CAPTAIN
SCARLET and the MYSTERONS UNOFFICIAL WEBSITE
by

The following information has been taken from diverse sources, but mostly comes from
"Century 21" No.15, Winter 1993, a Special Captain Scarlet issue, with a Complete Spectrum
Encyclopaedia.
Thanks to
"DJU" and to Chris Dale who have sent me these beautiful pictures to help me illustrate this
section!

EQUIPMENT:

PERSONAL
RECEIVERS
(PERSONAL
COMMUNICATORS)
| Two models exist of
such portative radio emitter exist within the Spectrum organisation. The
first is used by an agent, while undercover, or away during furlough
and not wearing his uniform. Like Captain Scarlet (right), during an
undercover mission in "Model Spy". |
 |
The
second model appears to be simply black sunglasses, but have miniature transceivers built in, which override the use of cap microphones if caps are also
worn. For example, when Captain Magenta was wearing his receivers but his cap mike was never used when talking to Captain
Ochre, in "The Heart of New York". Can
also be used when undercover, so the wearer can communicate with another agent and receive orders
and/or instructions without anybody else in his company noticing it.

C.38 MYSTERON DETECTORS
These
detectors, like large, red, "Polaroid cameras" produce X-Ray photographs of normal
humans, but normal photographs of X-Ray impervious Mysteron agents (and of Captain
Scarlet). The proceed was discovered during the episode
"Operation Time", when Mysteron agent Doctor Magnus put his hand under an X-Ray machine. They also work in total
darkness. (One would wonder HOW Spectrum never found that fact out before, since Captain Scarlet has been quite often in sickbay since his
Mysteronisation. C.B.)

AIR SAMPLING DEVICE
This hand-held device is able to
sense, measure,
analyse, compare and identify air samples for ambient radioactivity, gravity fluctuations, element
toxicity, pressure changes, and gas emissions. As seen in episode 5, "Avalanche". |
