Hand built by expert coach-builders, it's claimed that these MSVs are virtually indestructible, after exhaustive tests by the World Army air force under severe battle conditions. Based on WAAF designs (2066), these MSVs are specifically designed as unarmed, high security, personnel carriers, carrying any threatened VIPs in the utmost safety. These Maximum Security Vehicles are powered by a transverse, 10-cylinder, rotary diesel-engine (front) and transverse-coupled 10-cylinder, rotary diesel-engine (rear) powering four sets of twin, Quatro-Tri "all-terrain", off-road, bullet-proof, self-inflating tyres (as 4 X 2), with power-assisted steering. With hydraulically-clamped link, suspension holding the wheels. The MSVs are 24 feet long, weigh approx' 17,920 Lbs (8 Tons), have a top speed of 200 MPH and a cruise speed of only 15 MPH. All Spectrum vehicles use a special form of fuel drilled from the ultra-sonic refinery at Bensheba. (NOTE: The MSVs are powered by a 21st Century diesel-fuel equivalent, with Solar-cell energy collection areas for powering the electricals, which also recharge the batteries used to drive the stand-by engine). The MSV is a four seater vehicle (two persons as driver and co-driver, with two as VIP passengers), constructed at an unknown location. The MSVs are made from a laminated hull, of hardened, bullet-proof Fleetonium ally, a layer of impact/fragment suppressor material, a layer of "honeycomb" radiation-dampening sandwich, an internal layer of steel armour plate, and are silver/grey in colours (with internal "roll-cage" and bracing). The maximum-security windows are Lead-Quartz. If an MSV is in an area which has suffered a nuclear attack, for example, it can then be hermetically sealed from all outside contact, with its own pressured, air-conditioning/air-filtration system. MSVs are also equipped with radiation detectors, an autopilot system and "gull-wing" doors. |
