UPDATE MAY 18, 2003
Wonderful news! There's a MAJOR change for the Spectrum Challenge! As of now, the previous deadline set for May 31 is cancelled! Although this date will mark the official end of the initial Spectrum Challenge, as it was conceived, it has now been decided that this particular Challenge would now become a permanent feature on the site.
What does it mean? It means that, for now on, anytime you want, you can submit a story that would have been inspired inspired by one or more of the beautiful paintings created by Ron Embleton for the end credits TV show! Your story (or stories) will then be posted in this new 'category' - for everyone to read.
The Challenge is now open all year long - You feel you have an interesting story you want to share? Please contact this site and submit it! See below to know the few rules concerning this Challenge.
There'll be other Challenges presented on this site - stay tuned for later news!

The latest challenges I set on Halloween and Christmas, were a huge success. The numbers of stories received - well written stories, the quality of which we all have to agree on! - indicates that people like to participate in these challenges, while e-mails, and especially the details of traffic reports on the fanfic pages - are proof that visitors also liked reading those stories. I have to thank everybody for that success! These projects were wonderful, and real fun to run!
Halloween and Christmas challenges will return in due time, but what to do in the meantime? Maybe we can come up with other kinds of challenges? Lady Hawke has offered to present a first one; an idea she had for a new, original challenge, that I agreed to let her propose to you on this site. So, I'm now letting her explain to you what this is all about. (C.B.)

Lady
Hawke's Spectrum Challenge April 2003
To
use Ron Embleton's beautiful paintings to create a story for Chris
Bishop's Captain Scarlet and the Mysteron's Unofficial Web Site The
challenge: to create a story within
which you describe one (or more?) of Ron Embleton's end credit paintings. Pick
a favorite, create a motive, and go with it! The
situation for our dear Captain Scarlet is definitely S.I.R.!! Don't
worry if someone else picks the same painting(s). Each story will be
wonderfully and 'Mysteriously' unique. Have fun pitting our favorite
indestructible man against disaster. As with previous challenges, please
adhere to Chris Bishop's cautions about slash stories and those which do
not remain truthful to Gerry Anderson's well-crafted universe. As always,
remain respectful to his works. Stories
can be any length and will be posted on Chris' web
site
starting
March
15th, 2003.
Like Julius Caesar, who also led a colorful and fateful life, Captain
Scarlet lives on through the words of story. Therefore, I say,
"Scarlet! Beware the Ides of March!" What
better way to spend a cold winter night than to share a good Captain
Scarlet yarn? The deadline for stories will be May
31, 2003. Mysterons
or not, Captain Scarlet's going to be very busy surviving your challenges
to his unique gift. Have fun! Lady
Hawke
