ANNOUNCEMENT TO WRITERS AND ARTISTS:
UPDATE JULY 9, 2008:
HALLOWEEN CHALLENGE, 2008 Edition now launched! See page for information and how to participate.
As for the previous editions of the Halloween challenge, if you want to contribute drawings or pictures - to be put with your story if you are a writer, or as a stand-alone artist rendition of an Halloween/Captain Scarlet action scene, please contact me. I know there are talented people out there in the artistic field, and your contribution would make a nice addition to this project.
Accepted will be original drawings, paintings, pictures, montages, collages, even one line comic strips (who knows?) that will all be sharing the same Halloween/Captain Scarlet theme.
The limited date to send me pics - and stories - would be around October 25, to give me time to prepare them for the site. Stories and pics will be accessible from October onwards, and October 31 will be the last day they will be posted, but they will still be accessible after that. I will just stop accepting Halloween stories and pics after that date... it will then be up to you to send me your stuff for next year!

'CGI Captain Scarlet and Captain Black carved in pumpkins' made by Connie G aka Luvmylops.
Connie posted the whole procedure, along with patterns and other pictures, that you could find by clicking the following link: "New Captain Scarlet Carved Pumpkins". This could be a special project you could try this year on Halloween!

"Evil Twin on the prowl..."
Right from the pages of "Parallax View, Part II", the Mysteronised Captain Scarlet prepares for his latest mission - to destroy the K14 Observatory - where he will meet his counterpart from another Reality...
My friend, Mary J. Rudy, made this doll, using the head of a 1993 Captain Scarlet Vivid Imaginations doll, and a more flexible model for the body. Dressing him up with winter camouflage clothes and various equipment, she gave it the looks of the character of the Mysteronised and evil Captain Scarlet from the story I wrote for the Halloween Challenge in 2003. The photo background was provided by yours truly.
Thanks for an excellent work, Mary!

"Oh... Give me a break!"
Eventually, a story about how Scarlet found himself chased by a T-Rex will be told... And no, this story was not inspired by the story by Hilary Perry, 'Resurrection'. It had been made before I became aware of that wonderful story.
This one is probably one of my most elaborate montages, with the "Scarlet buried alive" picture below. The T-Rex has at least five different layers, and the running Scarlet even more pieces to him. The background is also composed of many parts taken from various pictures. Montage by Chris Bishop.

WHATEVER HAPPENED TO SCARLET FOR HIM TO BE BURIED - ALIVE - IN A CEMETERY? - By Chris Bishop
'Midnight has chimed its last long ago. The night is quiet. And yet...
There is a crack of thunder, and lightning flashes in the sky. In a lonely cemetery, something stirs beneath the surface... Something... or rather someone... who emerges from the ground and desperately crawls to the surface...'
This pic has been posted a few weeks ago, as a complement to the Halloween challenge. Writers were asked to inspire themselves from this image to come up with a story explaining how Captain Scarlet came into such a predicament.
Take note that YOU DON'T have to use base your Halloween story on this picture.
Can you tell us what happened?
The picture is a montage done with an image program, using numerous bits and pieces, all of them pasted together and touched up into a single image. Feel free to present similar pictures, to put onto the Halloween Pictures Pics Montage by Chris Bishop. Posted October 3, 2006 |

"Come back, dearest one..."
Lady Death mourning the lose of one of her 'lovers'. She only have his headstone to content for - for now. Will he ever come back to stay?
Not much to say about this one - I just carved the name and the date on an already existing clipart. Yeah, I know, it's cheating... but I like the effect! By Chris Bishop.

by Metalik-Fairy. An early submission to the challenge this year. The Mysterons are offering us all a 'Happy' Halloween. I'm sure this is hiding something... Posted October 1rst, 2005 |

"This is the Voice of the Mysterons..."
Larger version of an animated gif originally created by Clya Brown as an avatar for forum members 'The Mysterons'. They settled their choice on the Mars animation (below). The animation certainly gives an eerie enough atmosphere worthy of a Halloween pic. Posted October 24, 2004 |

"Mysterons from Mars..."
The second animation created by Clya Brown for forum members "The Mysterons", and the one they finally selected. One can only wonder what Clya received as payment for this wonderful work... Posted October 24, 2004 |

"Halloween Card"
"I don't know if there is
such a thing as a Halloween card (Halloween is not really celebrated in
Australia), but as there's a lot of Halloween themed rubber stamps
available I'm guessing there might be. This collage technique is

"A fixture of the Cloudbase Officers' Club" A Halloween party wouldn't be complete without party games... especially everyone's favorite, darts, featuring everybody's favorite Spectrum Intelligence Agent... Dart board courtesy of Captain Ochre. by Mary J. Rudy Apologies to actor Michael Moriarty -- no offense intended, but when we saw your picture you WERE Agent Conners. Posted October 19, 2003

"Halloween party trick gone wrong"
As a Halloween party trick, Captain Scarlet decided to show off by doing some big cat taming ... it didn't work out too well! He should have stuck to small black cats instead, at least they are only dangerous when they cross your path. What is a more traditional pastime for Halloween than bobbing for apples (in this case 'Adam's apples')! If the jaws of that lion didn't kill him temporarily, then his breath would! "A Soul Never at Peace" montage by Chris Bishop Captain Black standing in a cemetery is a classic image haunting us from the very beginning of the show. The image of Black has been taken from a photo captured from an episode of the TV series. The cemetery background comes from a site providing free images and gif, which, if not all Halloween related, are eerie enough to be perfect for that specific holiday! Posted October 6, 2003

"Haunting Stare" montage by Jay Quirk Again, the classic image of Captain Black standing in a cemetery. In the background, could it be the ghost of one of his many victims haunting him? Posted October 6, 2003

"Death Watching" montage by Chris Bishop This is a rendition of the constantly death-defying Captain Scarlet. As for the image above, the background (Razorback's Reaper), has been taking from the same free images and gif site. The classic Scarlet photographic pose has been touched up so to give it the appearance of a drawing, that would blend with the background. Posted October 6, 2003

Colonel White's Friend Collage by Cwissy. Cwissy's collages for Halloween and Christmas last year have been a very popular item! Now there's new photos collage from her, starting with an Halloween's classic: A black cat! Okay, a black panther, but that seems to fit the Colonel's temperament. The two of them seem very chummy, don't you think? Posted October 6, 2003 |

Spectrum's Halloween Party, 2003 Collage by Cwissy. Contrary to last year, the whole gang decided to get TOGETHER to celebrate Halloween! They even invited Captain Black! And a new bunch of cats! Cloudbase must be very vermin-controlled, with all those four-legged hunters up there! Posted October 6, 2003

2002 HALLOWEEN IMAGES EDITION:

"Spectrum Logo crossed by Thunderbolts", gif animation by Chris Bishop. In fact, the real animation here were the thunderbolts, which I found on a free gif site. I added the image of the Spectrum Logo to it.

"Black behind flashing window", gif animation by Chris Bishop.
Given credits where its due: This originally was a "Jason behind flashing window" animated gif. I carefully superposed a touched up and blued photo of Captain Black on Jason, and altered some of the gif images, so the character would blend into the scene.
