Most Stupidest and Annoying Character
Moderator: Spectrum Strike Force
Notes of interest:
Jeremy Wilkin, who gave voice to the pre-Mysteronised Black, was also the voice of Captain Ochre. To explain the American accent of Black at the time (he was supposed to be British), it was implied by Century 21 that the relative with which Conrad Turner stayed from the age of only 7 months lived in America. And the reason why Black speak with an apparently English accent after Mysteronisation is simple: it is not in fact Black himself who is speaking, but the Mysterons’ voice speaking through Black, using him as a voice box on Earth. (Explanation well found, since Donald Gray also provides the voice of the Mysterons. C.B.).

Orphaned at 7 months, left in the care of a distant relative... was given a good education. Entered Manchester Technical Academy at 15. Joined the airforce at 18...
You know, its almost like they made these up as they went along, isn't it?

I generally do; simply because the show itself gives us so little to go on. Canon [the episodes], spinoffs and fanon kind of blurs into one for me anyway.
LOL yes, what a strange concept.

Must admit though, in both OCS and NCS, I get quite cross at the contradictions. I assume back in 1967, they didn't expect this level of interest forty years later, but, you'd think they might have known better with NCS and taken more care with the characterisations. OK, it's fun making up stuff, but it can be irritating that nothing ties up with official biographies.

We should stick to what has been revealed (i.e. any apparent annoyances, that sort of thing), within reason. It means that the characters aren't totally alien. They still have a basis with the official information.
I'm not saying I want everything set in stone, otherwise what would be the point of fanfic? There'd be nothing to write about! You need to be able to invent some things.
I've now planned a history and personal biography type thing for a lot of the more interesting characters (In my eyes)...but...sigh...I just wish there was a bit more to go on...

Same here.
* Well I loved OCS Blue so much that the change was hard to get over. That said he'd grown on me by season two. Quite liked his dry sense of humour.
Again... same here.
* I was equally distraught to loose dear OCS Ochre, but purely on her own merit NCS Ochre is alright. Ditto for Green I suppose.
NCS Ochre - A Stallion Raid Bike was stolen = Stupid.
NCS Green - (episode: Proteus) Used her head and saved Colonel = Smart and/or Brave.
NCS Green - (episode: Proteus) Turning down a promotion to Captain = Stupid or just sticking to what she prefers to do/does best (using common sense)
* Dr Gold isn't so much annoying as a bit worrying. Certainly wouldn't want him as my doctor.
I would want him as my doctor... on the grounds that he's good at his job/profession...... however, I would not want him as my doctor if he gives up trying to revive me and pronounce me dead (like he did with the NCS Scarlet).
I'd eventually manage to accept his annoying-at-times bed side manner... I've heard worse.
* Have to agree with the general consensus that Destiny is such a Mary-Sue.
Ditto. She just gets in the way. For example: NCS episode: Skin Deep.
that's madness with a little 'm'... as in 'crazy'...

Green's smart. To be honest, I'd say she is one of the smartest characters, along with the Colonel and Gold (and Scarlet if he pulls his socks up). And I think she was just sticking to what she likes best. Plus the name Captain Green sounds plain awful...

Ochre is not remotely stupid, although I can see how she could be annoying sometimes.
I think Ochres great. She's got to be my second fave character, Blue being my first. Her Irish accent just makes her.
