DVD SETS
In 1975, Gerry And Sylvia Anderson produced their second sci-fi live-action series (the first one, of course, being "UFO"). Space: 1999 started up with a totally original idea never before - or even since! - seen in any TV series: a nuclear explosion on the Moon blows Earth's only natural satellite out of its orbit and sent it out of the solar system and across space. With apparently no chance of ever returning home, some 300 inhabitants of the Moonbase Alpha must now learn to survive on their own, living the hardship of a recluse life on the Moon, and encountering other species. Starring Martin Landau and Barbara Bain (Of the "Mission: Impossible" TV series fame), the series lasted two years. Some fans prefer the first season, while others like the second better. It doesn't really matter what your choice is: the series was a blast, and earned a well-deserved success around the world!

UK tapes and DVD are PAL format - and DVD discs are Region 2, which means that, PAL TAPES ARE ONLY COMPATIBLE WITH UK VIDEO SYSTEMS AND REGION 2 DVD DISCS ARE ONLY COMPATIBLE WITH EUROPEAN PLAYERS -- THEY WILL NOT WORK IN US EQUIPMENT. SPACE: 1999 30TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION (Region 1, NTSC Format) - TO BE RELEASED SOON
To celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the series, A&E Home Video will release a brand new, more affordable Anniversary Edition complete boxset of Space: 1999. At approximately half the price (and even less) than the previously released A&E Mega Set, this complete DVD set will include all of the 49 original episodes from both series 1 and 2. SPACE: 1999 SERIES 2 (Region 2, PAL Format) - SOON TO BE RELEASED
Finally! After two years of waiting, Network DVD will at last release the second season of the Space: 1999 series. This approximately 2100 minutes long DVD set will compile all the 24 episodes from "The Metamorph" (which introduced the character of Maya, played by Katherine Schell) to "The Dorcans". Number of DVDs are yet to be revealed. While no information regarding any specifications or extras, but it is suspected that the original 4:3 frame will be kept (just like Series 1) and that the episodes will also be digitally re-mastered. More details will be given as they become available.

On October 23rd, 2005, Network DVD released a 30th Anniversary Edition of Space: 1999 - Season One. This seven-disc new DVD set includes all 24 episodes of the first season - digitally re-mastered from High Definition masters, in its original 4:3 frame.
