New Captain Scarlet Writer's new job

FYI

Phil Ford, who wrote many of the New Captain Scarlet episdoes including the pilot, Mercury Falling, Chiller and Rat Trap will be writing for the Doctor Who spin off series - the Sarah Jane Adventures.

I realise he's an experienced writer ( and I guess someone who's written for Coronation Street is no slouch ! ) but I do hope that some of the lines in the Dr Who spin-off are less cringe-worthy than NCS.

Oh, I don't know - I think those are the best episodes of S1. Hurrah for the SJA if the plots are as good.

Maybe he could skip the cringe-worthy one-liners, though :shock:

Yes, perhaps I was being a little uncharitable where Mr Ford's concerned. Most of the stories and the scripts as a whole were very good, especially considering the short time the writers had to develop a plot and bring it to a successful conclusion.

Some of the one-liners were terrible though, even for a show designed for kids ! :roll:

Some of the script makes me cringe, especially where Scarlet and Destiny are concerned. Overall though it is really good.

Not sure if anyone else caught Phil Ford's episode of Sarah Jane Adventures. I for one thought it was great. After being dissapointed with the series finale of Doctor Who and the first part of the Sarah Jane Adventures with the Slitheen, it was great to see a fairly intelligent and Classic Doctor Whoish style story. Nothing completely original but some excellent characterization, snappy dialog and excellent drama and action. Who fans on forums seem to also like this episode and a few people are hoping Ford can graduate to Doctor Who.

Yes, I have to say that I also enjoyed what I have seen of 'Eye of the Gorgon' (part one so far). It's a nice change from that Slitheen brat. Hopefully they intend to continue with this quality.
