Petition for a book of Captain Scarlet Comic Strips reprints

The Spectrum Headquarters site is trying to make the news this time, by offering to its visitors the possibility of signing an online petition, that will eventually be presented to the Carlton Publishing Group of Carlton International. This petition will ask that Carlton would consider the possibility of releasing a book similar to the one that was released last year, and in which were collected reprints of TV Century 21 strips of "Thunderbirds". Considering the now very likely possibility that the new Captain Scarlet CGI series - which is presently in preparation - will indeed be aired soon on TV, and the merchandises that will surely be associated to it, this very well could mark a great opportunity for Carlton to release those old strips of the ORIGINAL hero.

None of the strips run were ever reprinted entirely. So you are all invited to read the petition, and add your signature to it. This site will make contact with other related sites, to see if they would accept to put a link through this petition, so it would be possible to generate as many signatures as possible.

If you own a Gerry Anderson related site yourself, you're welcome to use the link and the button, and to contact me so I would be able to express my thanks to your interest, and add your name to the list of links and sponsors to this project.

At the moment, the number of signatures for the petition is 47. COME ON! DON'T BE SHY! I know there's more Captain Scarlet fans than that around the world! We need FAR MORE THAN THAT if we have to convince Carlton that printing such a book will be a good deal for them!

So I'm asking help from EVERY members and visitors of the Spectrum Headquarters site and forum. Sign the petition! Make publicity! Tell ALL Captain Scarlet fans about this petition.

If you have a site, feel free to link the petition to one of your pages. It's free and I don't even ask for acknowledgement to the Spectrum Headquarters site!

If you know other people who have a related site, ask them if they would want to add a link too.

We need to contact as much people as possible, in order to assemble the greater number of signatures we can!

To those who are a little bit concerned about putting your names online: rest assured that all signatures, and especially e-mail addresses are confidential. Only the administrators of this forum and the people at Carlton will see them, so you don't have to be worried that you'll start receiving spams, publicities, all kind of unwanted e-mails or other contacts that may bother you. The e-mail address is, in any case, optional.

When people sign the petition, they can also leave a comment - that is also an option. The administrators of this site may take commens left on the petition to post on this site, as a measure of encouragement for more people to sign the petition. I know this is old news, and forgive me for "necro-posting," but I thought I would update you on the signature count - 226 signatures! - and provide the link again so our newest members could see it, and hopefully sign the petition and spread the word.

Yeah, I know what people say but at least this is an online petition, not one of those completely useless email forwards. Maybe, just maybe, this will have SOME impact...

Hi, this is an oldish thread so many of you may know already there is a good quality series of reprint books ‘Century 21 Volume 1, 2,3 (and hopefully onwards) which is currently reprinting Cpt Scarlet (Stingray, Thunderbirds, Zero X, Fireball & Lady Penelope).
Very nice reprints and reasonably priced.

I was quite a fan of Special Agent 21 and would love to see some of these get an airing sometime...

Me too! I loved the 21 stories. Personally I don't see how you can have a compilation of TV21 strips without Agent 21. It doesn't seem right somehow.

For me it was the toys he used. I did imagine how cool it would be if my own toys had a similar lethal capacity. I got as far as making a suitcase with built-in hand-drawn TV screen inside the lid - I was quite young! The only story I actually have is from one of the annuals (which cheekily features the jungle cat). I guess one of the problems is that there have been a few revivals of reprints of the Anderson strips but Special Agent 21 was an original creation not really tied to any TV series - not enough clout with the publishers maybe?

Crikey (the magazine) if you've not seen it has had some good Anderson comic features (ish 9 - Zero X and the Countdown reprints).
