Does anyone have one of the Captain Scarlet puppet replicas?
Moderators: chrisbishop, Spectrum Strike Force
I've seen replica puppets of Captain Scarlet and I was wondering if anyone here had any?
I know of a company "thisplanetearth" that make them and was wondering if they were any good? The pictures on their site look okay, but the puppet seems to be missing "something"

Black is stunning! But then... so is Scarlet!

Good job, White as Snow!

I ve always loved Gerrys shows...i first saw Captain Scarlet when i was 5 and i ll be 40 in a few months time. And Captain Blacks always been my favourite character...partly because of how my maturity has allowed me to appreciate the awfulness of the situation he finds himself in.One of Earths top security officers trapped in a merciless, pitiless husk, his soul powerless to prevent the terrible outrages his outer-self perpetrates. It s a fascinating situation.I also loved the fact he comes from Manchester!
The first thing i factored in was that there was a free glass display case for the first 50 ordered...normally a £100 item on it s own.And the second was i won a not inconsiderable sum on the horses the same day i put my order in for him...that took the sting out of it a bit!
I also thought of the people who spend what is,to me,a ridiculous amount on jewellery...Blacks no more expensive than a half-decent necklace, and look what you re getting! Each to their own.
So,summing up,i m getting a custom-built replica of my favourite character from my favourite shows and an item that may appreciate in value.I still think it s a bargain!

I've noticed that the Scarlet on the site looks a bit "worse for wear" you might have thought that they could have put some better pics up? This would drive more sales surely?

Sorry about the old lamp behind him as well!It s my old bedroom, these days a makeshift storeroom and most definitely NOT indicative of the rest of my house

You know, the factory where they make all this stuff is less than 10 minutes drive from the Stirling Road studios on the Slough Trading Estate where they made all the series in the first place. It s not intentional but a really nice touch all the same.
I have to periodically rub baby oil into his face to give him an authentic sheen. This was an old trick the puppeteers used, although they used their own sweat gleaned under the studio lights!

Would like to see more of the puppet. Are the hands rubber?
Thanks for sharing!

If you get to see any originals, many of them have been repainted over and over to kill the shine. I`d be cautious about rubbing baby oil into that head..
