Who could be the star?

This has got me going now...
I like Chris's suggestions for Melody and Symphony..but I thought I'd throw a couple of other suggestions in the pool for Rhapsody..
Rachel Weitz (The Mummy) or Kiera Knightley (Pirates of the Caribbean) both have lovely cut-glass English accents as well...

and how about a real Frenchwoman for Destiny..(Sophie Marceau..in Blonde wig)

I love that observation about the cut-glass English accent! But it got me thinking. It's already been commented that the new Lady Penelope appears to have a touch of the Essex girl about her, and I'm wondering whether the creators of the new CS CGI series might have concluded that they need to update the accents in addition to just about everything else. Rhapsody was presumably conceived as an up-market swinging-sixties chick of the post-débutante era, and it's got to be admitted that things have moved on a little since then. I'm just hoping that they don't conclude that to inject a little street-cred into the character they don't feel they have to make her sound like Kat Slater - or Scarlet himself like Phil Mitchell, for that matter! I can't believe it's likely - it seems to me that both of them will need to sound like contemporary English officer-class military personnel to be credible - but we're going to have to be prepared for some change. "Normal" accents have changed perceptibly since 1967, and I have a feeling that's going to be more of a shock to the fans of the original series than they realise.

You know the Colonel could be played by Sir Sean. He's my personal choice. It would be rather fitting I think. Some of the Colonels qualifications are similar to Bonds. :wink:

Something else to think about in regard to the new CGI. Ochre (ducks baseball bat) is going to become a female in that so I think it would have to be someone 'female' :shock:

(Shivers looking at Cerise and Khaki) Sorry about that girls :oops:

Alec Baldwin or Rickman. Either could make a good Black. Rickman has the right accent though.

Sorry, I don't think Sir Sean could play Colonel White... not until he learns to 'shpeek Englisch'.... which would undoubtedly detract form his charm ratio! :wink:

Having heard something of the new Scarlet's voice (on CGI) he doesn't sound like Phil Mitchell - for which we can ALL be grateful - Destiny's voice didn't sound particularly French either...
The brief glance of Col. White suggested he looks most like his original character. Captain Blue (as seen so far) is a sad disappointment....

I understood that Lt Green had been 'altered' to a female - but not that Captain Ochre was. There is also a Captain Orange - who, I hope, isn't the new-improved Ochre - on the premise that modern youth can't handle an uncommon name of a colour.
When all is said and done, we have to accept that the new CGI will be different - it will probably be exciting, fast-paced and full of action sequences.
It won't be 'Captain Scarlet and The Mysterons' as we know (and love it) though.

We seem to have forgotten one character! What about the World President, T.J. Younger?! We can't do a Captain Scarlet movie without a WP in it. We need an actor with presence... But any of the actors I have in mind for the role wouldn't even NEED Spectrum to save him...

Sean Connery - would knock Scarlet off the Car-Vu himself, with Blue watching helplessly.

Patrick Stewart - will probably ask Georgi to simply beam him up to Enterprise...

And Patrick McNee... will probably also knock Scarlet off the Car-Vu, and walk away with class, without bothering about the pieces of metal raining all around him...

Regarding the part of the World President, or President Roberts, someone long ago in another forum (might have been the old Century 21 APA) mentioned Ed Bishop in a cameo role... :angel)

If you want an even better idea... how about Mr. Mathews? Or lemme think. Shane Rimmer? He was involved with CS too. :wink:

Also Patrick Stewart could ask Wolverine to do some damage as well. Or Cyclops, or whichever X-Man was with him at the time. :twisted:

Mmm... I look at this Clive Owen... and I look at Captain Grey's picture... And I think he would also make a good-looking Captain Grey. Not withstanding all the respect I have for Sir Sean (he's one of my favorite actors)... I think we may want to go for a slightly (...) younger actor for his puppet counterpart...

Surely the only choice to play Captain Scarlet is Alan Hansen the football pundit? He looks so much like Scarlet it is uncanny! And who thinks that his fellow pundit on the BBC Peter Schmeichael would make a decent Captain Blue?

After months of dedicated research - well someone had to - I have an alternative candidate for Captain Blue. I saw him in Zorro - with a beard and immediately thought - the bearded Captain Blue from Chris's story Parallax View.

His name is Matthew Letscher

He was the star of 'Wimbledon'. I remember thinking at the time that apart from the fact that he's British, he's be an excellent Blue. Good choice, Sage!

When I first saw this fella I thought not of Blue but of perhaps one of his younger brothers.

Also, don't despair about accents; a) nowadays actors often study different accents for movie roles and b) keep in mind that a *slight* English accent wouldn't exactly be out of place since Blue's from *New* England. The Baahstonian accent (especially the middle/upper-class version) is about as close to "British English" as Americans will get... :angel)
