Virus
Moderator: Spectrum Strike Force
This series just gets better and better - and I love the new Captain Magenta! A romeo Spectrum officer - superb!
Nice subliminal effects in the 'virus' as Scarlet sees it - anyone catch the images of destruction and despair?
And nice that Scarlet is getting some heroic characterisation - his solution to the Cheetah crash was inspired - even I was going 'oh sh*t' when it went over, totally forgetting it had wings...
Oh, and where oh where can we get those 'full Spectrum & Angel' outfits the MoM presenters had!?

Yeah, I saw the images in the virus - nice touch.

This will turn out to be one of my favourite episodes, I suspect. It was certainly very adult in feel, especially during the last 10 minutes.
The subliminal scenes on the main computer were an inspired touch, as was the tear on Scarlet's cheek.
It's good to see three minor characters get some lines. I especially liked Rhapsody's "darling" - just right for a Chelsea girl, I thought!
As usual, the animation was top-drawer. As well as the computer images, other noted examples: the reflections from the lift signs (small touch, I know but it just makes things look so real) and the flare from the radiation door. Also, the dog-fight (spot the detail on the undercarriage of Destiny's escape pod!).
Phew! Never mind the first series on DVD - I'm already hankering for the second!

I always thought Captain Scarlet had a really **CENSORED** job, and it is quite poignant that he is realising it himself - what did he say to Doctor Gold, something like "what use is it being indestructible when everyone around me is so fragile?"
And ouch that must have hurt, landing under Captain Blue like he did!! Retrometabolism working overtime there??!

I'm kind of hoping Holly will keep hers and wear it more often...

Uh, did I say that out loud?

Absolutely.
After all, in OCS, Dr Fawn tells Scarlet that "a bullet will make you bleed; you will feel the pain...".
I always winced during the fiddling-about-with-the-brain scene in Operation: Time where it is obvious that Scarlet is in some discomfort.
Yet you always got the impression that if he had been ordered to take on an assignment that meant certain death or at least some real danger of an extreme and protracted ouch-and-ooyah scenario, Colonel White would have accused him of being a right whingey baby if Scarlet had asked as much as "OK but is this going to sting a bit?"
Poor bloke. Stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Sorry to go off-topic BTW.

Great story and the CGI was some of the best of New Captain Scarlet.
It was great to see Captain Magenta plus the other three Angels we had not seen before.
The second season has been amazing so far and I hope the rest of the episodes are as great as the last two.
Aegis was right when he said that the second season was much better than the first.
Also I agree Holly did look very nice in that Angel suit.

Nice picture Shaqui.

Think about it; one minute, you've just completed your training and on the way to your first mission, the next, you're a Mysteron zombie being blasted out of the sky by a white-suited babe in a Falcon interceptor.
Bet they don't mention that during the recruitment drives....

The dogfight and Cheetah crash were well executed.

The images the virus fed into the brain were those of destruction and despair - the implication being there were things so horrific in life it drove the victims to suicide. It was a nicer touch than just be hypnotised to destroy themselves, and also feeds back to the first story and how the Mysterons viewed humanity.
