Movie - Saturday Island

Watched an old movie on TV this afternoon, made in 1952. It was trudly dreadful with the worst acting (possibly ever) by Tab Hunter....and Linda Darnell was't much better.

The third actor mentioned in the movie advert didn't appear until near the end and I can't say it was a shining performance there either but.....how often do you turn on the TV and see Donald Gray in a movie?

Close your eyes and it was Colonel White doing the talking.

Watching episodes of Mark Saber on YouTube will give the same eerie feeling.

It's even stranger when Mr. Gray does this little smile that looks exactly like Colonel White's in White as Snow...

Same thing with "The Four Feathers". The 1939 version, not the 2002 one with Heath Ledger, and in my book, quite superior to the remake. That a Zoltan Korda film (who made such gems as Jungle Book, The Thief of Bagdad, Elephant Boy...) Donald Grey is one of the companions the hero is set to free. Listen to him at the start of the movie, doing the impersonation of a superior officer. This is Colonel White, people!

I remember this when I saw Francis Matthews in a classic Morecambe & Wise sketch.

Though less so when as a kid and as was the case on a Sunday watching TV, when we stopped this video there was an old film on, some press conference and my Dad said to me: "That man there is Captain Blue" (Scarlet being on TV then, mid-90s). I looked seeing no blond man...Ah, innocence of youth not realising the actors didn't always match the puppets.
