UPDATES: December 9, 2014: Christmas Challenge
Moderator: Spectrum Strike Force
Last week, on December 9, 2014, this year's edition of the Christmas Challenge debuted with the posting of a brand-new story! We started with a bang, with long-time participant Marion Woods, offering us a short story that was sure to please many fans:
BEARING GIFTS
by Marion Woods. When the 'old immoveable object' that is Colonel White encounters 'an irresistible force' that is willing to traverse afar to be with their loved ones, something's gotta give.
And this is only the beginning, folks! The Christmas Challenge is only starting!

On this second week into our Christmas Challenge, we have not one but two stories to offer you!
Marion Woods offers her traditional birthday story, and her second for this year's challenge! A really nice surprise for us fan fiction readers!
LET THERE BE LIGHTS
by Marion Woods. London is lit up on Captain Scarlet's birthday, but not in a way he appreciates. ff 566.
The second story is from yours truly. It's the first part of a larger tale, that I hope to have finished by the end of the year! It also starts on Scarlet's birthday.
TIN SOLDIER, PART 1
by Chris Bishop. Captain Scarlet's birthday celebration is interrupted by an accident in the generator room... But is this really an accident? ff 567
In the upcoming weeks, there will be other stories posted on this website for the Challenge. Aside from the next parts of "Tin Soldier", so far there's two or three new stories waiting for posting... as well as our traditional "Unofficial Captain Scarlet Calendar". And for year 2015, the author, Caroline Smith, have something REALLY special for you!
Stay tuned for more!

A MYSTERON CHRISTMAS SURPRISE
by VMR. Just a little bit of Christmas fluff. What happens when the silly season is felt in an unexpected place? Christmas Challenge. ff 568.
And the Challenge is still going on! Be sure to join us on the following weeks for more goodies. Oh, and ESPECIALLY... don't miss next week-end posting!

First, we have our traditional reposting. Last year, this story from long time collaborator Cat 2 was posted as an Halloween story. And because of the story as such, it belonged to Halloween, but it really is a Christmas ghost story!
THE LAST TRAIN
by Cat 2. On his way to meet with his sister for Christmas, Captain Scarlet makes a very unusual train journey. (New Captain Scarlet story) Originally posted October 13, 2013. ff 531
And secondly, we have a brand new story, from a new author who presents her first NCS story to this site.
CHRISTMAS ANGEL
by Isabelle Saucier. Charles' plan was simple: Attend the Global Heritage Foundation meeting, drive home to Greenslade Hall, and enjoy his holiday vacation from the Royal Marines. Of course, plans do not always go as intended... Christmas Challenge. ff 570
Huge welcome to Isabelle and congratulations for taking the plunge!
In two weeks, the Challenge will be finished. Do we have other stuff to offer you? Yes we have! So come back soon for more!

First, a New Captain Scarlet short from Adam Blue:
HOME SWEET HOME
by Adam Blue. Adam Svenson celebrates Christmas with his family at home in the North of Texas. ff 571
Secondly, the second part of our multipart birthday/Christmas story this year:
TIN SOLDIER, PART 2
by Chris Bishop. A few days after the incident in the Engine Room, the crew of Cloudbase are confronted to an unexpected side of Paul Metcalfe that bewilders them all. ff 567
Is this finished? No, we have STILL a few goodies to offer you! There's still one week left, and (cue to alarm drums resonating through speakers) anything can happen in the next few days! (hours, I know. But give me artistic license.)
See you soon!

This week: two new postings.
First story: for the first time trying her hand on the 'Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons' fandom, Skybase Girl offers us a follow-up to the classic story 'Valediction', by Marion Woods:
WHAT REMAINS
by Skybase Girl. Set in the year 2100 and intended as a sequel to Marion Woods’ story “Valediction”. Colonel Scarlet and former Symphony Angel Karen Svenson are struggling to deal with the tragic deaths of their spouses. But when their efforts to rebuild their lives take an unexpected turn, they are unprepared for the resultant fallout. ff 572
Second story: The third part of our multi-parts story for this year's challenge:
TIN SOLDIER, PART 3
by Chris Bishop. With the impending arrival of the World President onboard Cloudbase, the presence of Paul Metcalfe is regarded as a problem. How could a meeting between the two of them be avoided? To be continued. ff 567
And we have not finished! As you read above, Tin Soldier is to be continued. So it means you'll have another posting coming up over the next week-end!
So come back soon for the finale of this year's edition of the Christmas Challenge!

The main reason it ends at this date is that I needed to complete the multi-part started for the Challenge... I didn't want to leave you to dry with it. So sorry it is posted late! And so, here are the THREE parts that complete the story:
TIN SOLDIER, PART 4
World President T. James Younger has planned a family Christmas with his children onboard Cloudbase, but his fourteen year old son, Daniel, proves to be a worst problem than Paul Metcalfe.
TIN SOLDIER, PART 5
Paul Metcalfe and Daniel Younger put their plan into motion. Who would be the biggest problem for Paul? Daniel, the World President... or the Mysterons?
TIN SOLDIER, CONCLUSION
It's the conclusion of the story, as Paul Metcalfe and Daniel Younger arrive in Winchester in Christmas Eve, with the Mysterons and Spectrum hot on their trail. Will the both of them survive... and will Paul ever return to his normal self?
So that's it for this year, folks! The Christmas Challenge is completed!
However, other stuff is coming our way on this website, so keep your eyes on this space for more to come!
S.I.G.!

"Tin Soldier" is worth the wait. Having read all the parts, I can safely say that. Bring on the new year and lots more stories to read!
