Captain Scarlet Annual
Moderator: Spectrum Strike Force
Now onto the main point of this post. Yesterday I went to a comic book store with my sister on our monthly comic collection, where (as the name suggests) we go and get comics and look for other merchandise concerning our fandoms. While I was there, I thought I would look for any captain scarlet stuff. I turn around, and I see this staring back at me.
Looking at the publication date on the back of the book, it's the 1993 annual, so that's good. I also found a Jeff Tracy drink coaster, so I brought that as weel.

Let you guys know if I mind anything else!

My favourite is the 1967 Captain Scarlet annual with the biographies of all the characters. If I could have taken that annual to school every day I would have. (I settled for taking the TV21 Thunderbirds are Go movie booklet to school instead....it was a lot lighter to carry).

It was only some time later that it occurred to me that the staffers who wrote those biographies were either slightly crazy or possibly a little drunk at the time. That's the only reason I can come up with, for a bio that describes Captain Scarlet as 'fun loving' (which frankly I found hard to imagine even before he was mysteronised), and the fact that Dr Fawn comes from a city/town/suburb (take your pick) that doesn't exist. There is however a very good winery by that name....!
Sadly, we will probably never know the truth.

The 1994 Annual isn't as good as the 1993 - they even get Captain Scarlet and Captain Magenta mixed up in the illustrations. I guess the interest generated by the re-runs was going off the boil by then? I had trouble finding the book - it turned up eventually on a Market Stall and I swooped on it...

All my youthful CS memorabilia suffered a process of attrition back further than I care to remember, but, since meeting the wonderful friends of SHQ they have replenished my bookshelves with every known book/comic/novel and I have spent the last ten happy years re-acquainting myself with my beloved childhood heroes and heroines.
Thank you friends!

I am currently watching Joe 90 on YouTube, and that's fun.
