Enjoyed Captain Scarlet but my biggest favourite was UFO. I look forward to conversing with like minded geeks .

I have always thought that there are distinct similarities between the Captain Scarlet and UFO shows. I mean, quite apart from the presence of the marvellous Ed Bishop in prominent roles in both of them, there is the premise of a 'secret' security organisation, with an apparently limitless fleet of high-tech vehicles and equipment scattered across the globe in order to fight mysterious and invisible (or at least, largely unseen) aliens who are out to get us. I won't even mention the unforgettable flying saucers that both alien races are supposed to travel in (see 'Attack on Cloudbase'

I wonder, if they had made a second series of CS, whether the show would have taken on some of the ideas that surfaced later in UFO? After all, the question of why a race as powerful as the Mysterons simply didn't wipe us off the face of the planet after Captain Black attacked their Martian compound was never explained. Maybe the Mysterons had been watching us (as the voice-over in their compound explains in episode 1) with a view to harvesting internal organs from us at some point?
Chilly thought...

Hi Marion thanks for the welcome. That's an interesting idea about the harvesting body parts. But I always thought even as a kid that the Mysterons had to be sneaky because they were not as powerful as they liked to make out. They weren't capable of an overwhelming attack. (I didn't know about the "Attack On Cloudbase" episode?) Maybe it took a lot of energy for them to duplicate just a single vehicle and posess a couple of agents. I mean, Captain Black didn't even have the energy left to have a shave.
