UPDATES: September 2012
Moderator: Spectrum Strike Force
Not much has changed as such on the website, though, except for some little details that might have their importance: All of the stories written by Sue Stanhope - who submitted so many rivetting and popular stories in the past - are not stored directly on the Spectrum HQ site, in order to adapt them to widescreen presentation and make them easier to read.
So if you had not read the entire 'Stanhope collection', we invite you to do so by checking the following address:

We highly recommend these wonderful stories!
The second update, done on the Halloween page, is to announce some of the stories which are coming soon for our Halloween Challenge. That's right, submissions have started coming in, and it's not surprising: we are exactly one month away from posting this year's stories for Halloween! We hope to receive many more submissions!
For a list of the upcoming stories, and to see what had been posted in the previous years, go to:

For information about the Halloween Challenge, and how to participate, go to:

See you all again soon!

This week, we present you another "New Captain Scarlet" story, from one of our most recent writers, Adam Blue, that we wish to thank for her submission and her hard work:
VACATION? NO, HOUDINI!
Spectrum must find not one, but TWO weapons currently used by the Mysterons to cause havoc. New Captain Scarlet story. ff 497

As well, this week we have the updated Version of this website "WHO, WHAT AND WHERE", a compilation document, the work or many, and which presents a list of some of the characters, places, institutions - and even objects used in some of the stories which appeared on the Spectrum HQ website. The list has been upgraded to what I call "Version 2.0", with a new, clearer, much more user-friendly version, and about thirty new entries. The list is far from being exhaustive, but rest assure, we're working on it to make it more complete! Note that the previous version was dated September 25, 2008, so it's been four years, since the last modification.

As postings for the Halloween Challenge are growing very near, it might be very likely that theses updates will be the last before October 1rst. Preparations must be made for the upcoming stories for Halloween, which include writing, beta-reading, corrections, creation of the pages... and more, so the team involved will be very busy in the upcoming week. That is, unless something would come up unexpectedly! We never know!
A note in passing: "Vacation? No, Houdini!" is currently number 497... So, one step closer to our 500th story!
Come back soon for new updates!

Chris, I noted that the "Who What and Where" document doesn't contain any entries for NCS characters. Do you plan to incorporate that in the future, or perhaps create a separate document? I realise there's not a mountain of NCS fanfic out there, so maybe it's not that important.....
Just a thought!

I know how much work creating that list has taken - and it is by no means exhaustive, as Chris admits. I had kept an updated list of my own characters and gave it to Chris when she said she wanted to revise the old list and there were several of us who identified and added new characters and then checked the draft version to try and help. However, as usual, the bulk of the hard work was done by Chris herself

Following up on the "Who, What, Where" topic, I would be happy to provide a list of my own original characters ( indeed, I started out on such an enterprise many moons ago, only to come to a standstill - you know me!

Do you want me to include original characters from other NCS stories? I can do it, but I ask the question only because while there are active NCS writers on the site who will only naturally want to add their own characters, there are a few writers who produced stories several years ago and no longer seem to be with us. It would be a simple task to detail all original characters so everyone has this as a reference point if needed, but I understand that it may not be my place to do so.

Do make a list, if you want to! That way, when it the time will come (somewhere after Christmas, I believe... We'll be quite busy until then!) we'll have some material ready to work on.
In the meantime we'll have the time to decide how to actually do that. I was thinking, maybe a different tab, onto which we could put only the NCS information? We'd have a link a the top which bring us to NCS data... Well, it's just on the planning stage for now, so we'll see what we'll do exactly.
To the other writers (NCS or OCS), if you wish to send your own list of original characters (or creations), please do so at the following email: spectrum_hq@hotmail.com. It'll help us trying to keep our file up to date!
