Fan Fiction Idea
Moderator: Spectrum Strike Force
I'm just kidding, I'm Nike (yes really Nike, just like the shoes) I live in the Netherlands. Like many here I grew up watching Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet, until I discovered the New Captain Scarlet a few years back, I know there aren't all that many fans out there of that show, but I think it is pretty awesome, and a great way to update a classic TV series for a new generation, but it is also a unique show on itself. That said I got ideas for Fan Fiction years ago, a few months ago I returned to the idea and started to work out some of the ideas and invent some new ones.
Apart from loads of ideas (everyone has those) I am also a 3D CGI Hobbyist, most of my work is Sci-Fi based, most including Captain Scarlet or War of the Worlds. I'll show some of my work:

Some of the NCS fans might recognize the last two trucks, both made after the two truck designs used in the new series. I got some older stuff also (New) Captain Scarlet based, but that is really outdated by now, but I might show it later if anyone is interested.
What I want to make in the end, is a series of Fan Fiction Stories with Visual Accompaniment of 3D artworks, all in the NCS Digital Style ofcourse, I have started work on some of the Machines of the series some time ago, but it is very hard to make them indistinguishable from the 3D models used in the series.
But that said there are also some things that I want to brainstorm about, some things that puzzle me, or just general comments on it, and as I lack anyone in real life that is interested in this, I'll try it over here

So here it comes

What happens after Scarlet leaves Mars? Obviously he didn't destroy the Mysterons, as Black and their rings are seen in the final seconds of the episode ''Dominion''.
I got an idea that after Scarlet's message of ''Scarlet to Spectrum... I'm coming home.'' the Mysterons destroy his communications hardware, but keeping his ID transponder intact, letting Spectrum know that he is returning to Earth, but not letting anyone know what happened (unaware to them that his communications equipment is destroyed, so they speculate he might have been taken over by the Mysterons again. They take no chances and when Scarlet lands he is awaited by a company of Spectrum Special Forces led by Captain Blue. He is taken back to Skybase and debriefed. The Mysterons take that opportunity to take over a B-83 Bomber which is part of an exercise South-East of England. They then fly towards London and drop a Nuclear Warhead above the city, completely destroying the city.
I imagined that the Mysterons can destroy us in a heartbeat if they wanted to, but the are a sadistic species that like toying with us, they like to make traps that we walk into (Trap for a Rhino) and then using our own technology and weaknesses against us. In my opinion the Mysterons could blow the Earth in half all by themselves, they wouldn't need any Nuclear Devices for that, they could just alter the Moons orbit, crash it into Earth, or change Earth's Atmosphere, making it sterile, or whatever they do. In the new (and old) series there are dozens of times they could have won, but they didn't... Why? I think they are just toying with us, mindf*cking us, making Spectrum all jumpy and nervous. Like Black said in the original series episode ''Dangerous Rendezvous'': ''Bringing the Earth to it's knees, and finally, annihilate it''
So my idea why suddenly out of nowhere take over a plane with no effort, fly it to London, drop a Nuke and kill millions of people in less then half an hour? I though it would be because of Scarlets attack on the Mysteron City. In the first episode they also immediately retaliated by killing Black. But a second attack would (in their eyes) be even more, how do you say it... Violent if you know what I mean. It would make them believe that we are even more violent. (I use the word ''Violent'' as the Mysterons also said that ''our violence disgusts them'' So the Nuclear attack on London was only to get back at us, and to show how effective they can be if they really wanted.
And after a quick ''demonstration'' of power and abilities, the Mysterons return to their old habit of a ''War of Nerves'' killing people and destroying objects, all in need of their ultimate goal: To ''bring the Earth to it's knees, and finally annihilate it''
I got dozens of ideas for episodes ranging from Solar Flares, A Mysteronized bacterial Epidermolysis bullosa (EB) Epidemic, attack on the Queen, to the Mysterons resurrecting a Sabre Tooth Cat, The Mysterons trying to destroy the largest Water Powered Dam in the world and a full scale Nuclear War. But one question I have unanswered:
Who wins? I can't see humans winning this War any way by themselves, the Mysterons have an Achilles heel, but what? Something like they are impervious to X-ray and can be killed by electricity is an idea that is a little dated with the new series, as the Mysteron Replicants are a clone of the original, with different DNA and abilities. But it is essentially the same person, only rebuild. But I can see the Mysterons destroying all mayor cities in the world with Nuclear Weapons, and letting the Radiation kill the rest. But I just can't see myself writing an ending like that, But the Mysterons can (in my opinion) reset time, killing the entire planet, then resetting the time to before Scarlet and Black found the Mysteron Complex, but with their memories of the War, so they don't attack, and there is peace between them. But that ending... I don't know, I don't think that would fit.
So guys, sorry for the long post, but what do you think? Is this an idea worth expanding? Do you like my Artwork? Any ideas for stories, characters, or is what I told you stupid? Just let me know

All the best,
Nike

Your artwork is fantastic - are you a professional? It's very impressive!
I understand you are a fan of both Original and New Captain Scarlet. As a person who grew up loving the original puppet series, but who chooses to write for the new GCI version, I'm particularly happy to welcome fellow NCS writers, because there aren't too many of us about. ( Of course, if you prefer to write about the original series, that's fine and you'll be in stellar company!)
Theories about the War of Nerves have been well-documented on all our forum threads over the years, so you may wish to take a look - be warned, it will take years out of your life!

I was interested in your mention of a Mysteron achilles heel. That's something that only occurs in NCS ( the episode "Achilles Messenger) but could well apply to both series in the hands of fanfic writers. As for what happens when Scarlet leaves Mars at the end of NCS series 2 - debatable!

As for why the Mysterons toy with us, rather than finishing us off completely, there is is no better answer than in Caroline Smith's story, "The Final Message". Read it and weep!

And yeah, there is a lot of information on the forum, really a lot of stuff, I've been reading a lot for the past few months, most of it is very old, and I wandered if there were still people alive to even read new stories, or wanted to exchange ideas, so there are!

That story is an interesting read for sure, but I'm not all that sure if that is the direction I want to go, but I do like the idea of them toying with us, although not in the way explained in her story, I like the idea. I imagined them more as sadistic beings that just wanted to break us mentally, mindf*cking us, causing chaos and disorder, but yet in a very, very slow way. ''Earth will die a lingering death, piece by piece'' as said by the Mysterons in ''Touch of the Reaper''.
Thanks for your comment!

Yes, there are still people alive to read the stories and appreciate them - some of us even write them when Real Life allows. We welcome all new authors and new ideas, from either series, as every different aspect throws a new light on the possibilities of the Anderverse, and Scarlet in particular.
Sad to say, in the year of the 10th anniversary, the forum server went down for some time and things have not really recovered since then, but the die-hards are still here and the fiction collection on the main website is flourishing!
Hope you enjoy yourself!

Interesting idea(s) and wonderful artwork. It's really good to see another fan joining us and be interested enough to be creative about both the original series and the New Captain Scarlet series! Yes, if you are a writer, we'll be interesting to read you and see what your vision will lead you. The many facets and views each writer brings to the Anderverse are fascinating and make for a wonderful read, full of varieties.
If you are interested to see what others presented for 'end of the War of Nerves stories', you might like to know that Caroline Smith, with her wonderful story, wasn't the only one to write about it. There's a whole sub-section in the Multiverses Fan fiction page that you might like to check. Each take is as different as the number of stories there is - and, I'm sure, there's more to be written on the subject - including yours, maybe?
Check this page: http://www.spectrum-headquarters.com/fa ... tories.htm and scroll down to "End of the Adventure or Future Stories". From there, you'll be able to take your pick.
Good reading and... good creative process, whether you write or create those wonderful artwork of yours!

The basic idea for this Fanfic was that several miles below the surface, deep in the Pacific Ocean lays Ventbase Alpha, a large Military complex that works on experimental weapons. One of the newest weapons developed is a special type of Nerve Agent, the Mysterons like to use that to create havoc of some sort and plan to bring it to the surface. The base is extremely secured and there isn't even a way up, the only way in is the only way out. Captain Black kills a Great White Shark and the animal destroys the Communications hardware, this causes a Red Alert on the surface and Spectrum are send in to investigate, the base's Major is also taken over by the Mysterons and plans to bring the new gas to the surface. Near the end of the story though, Scarlet has to face the Mysteron controlled Shark...
I also started work on my first story ''Dominion - Part II'' But I must say it is quite hard to write in another language, I may have been the best in English at school, it is still really hard to write a story that doesn't have any type errors in it, but one that has grammatical correct sentence structure. You guys are probably all English and you can clearly see I'm not. If there are people that want to do a beta read, please let me know

Actually, your English is pretty good. Quite a bit better than some I see on FanFiction.Net, in stories written by native English speakers.
Somebody else's beta reader

French Canadian over here... And maybe you had already figured out that my first language isn't English either!
Your English, judging by your posts here, is very good. I can understand your frustration in writing in a language which is not your mother tongue... I've been through this, and still learn something new every day.
Mind you, I think you're doing very well!
Hazel already gave you the link for beta-reading service. It's very useful and you learn quite a lot when a good beta-reader reads your text and helps you to get your story 'on track'. I can't thank them enough for all thewonderful advices, suggestions and information they provided over the years.
Out of curiosity, can I ask what is your first language?

btw, I just sent my first draft of ''Dominion Part II'' to the Beta Readers Circle, so I'm really looking forward to their responses, I am just too much of an perfectionist in everything I do, but you know... Visual stuff is easy to see what is wrong, but from a writers point of view you have something in your head, you put it on paper and you finished your idea. But the reader can see it and be like ''what the heck has that dude been writing about?'' if you know what I mean, you can have something so visual in your head but it's hard to put it clearly on paper

The Beta-Readers Circle will check it out and let you know about it. Unfortunately, it's impossible at this point to give you a deadline. It could be within the next week, or up to a few weeks, so don't worry if you don't hear from one of us before that time.
Just be sure that we won't forget to contact you!

Nike, I know exactly what you mean! That's the hard part of writing, I think - getting what's in your head out there in a way that people reading it will see what you see. It's an incredibly difficult thing to do - sometimes you manage it, sometimes you're never happy with what you've achieved. It happens to everybody and is something that I think even the most experienced writers struggle with.
From a personal point of view, I've had tremendous support and encouragement from the forum whenever I've run into difficulties. There are always people out there who will bolster up your confidence, make helpful suggestions, even sort out plot difficulties ( thanks, Chris!). The message is never give up, even if you think it's rubbish. It probably won't be!Nike wrote:Thanks for all the comments guys, made a little artwork today, it's rather large, but check it out below:

For example, when Scarlet and Black are inside the Mysteron City and Black is taken over by the Mysterons again, the last thing I would do was insult him for ''Mysteron piece of scum'' and pick a fight with him. Even though the plan was to destroy them, I would try to make peace, at all costs. It is a losing war, Spectrum is defending, and they are attacking, it can't be the other side around. They win in the end, unless we make peace. (I use ''we'' for mankind, as I am a part of that too

Thanks a lot guys for all the comments! It's great to see people still alive out there, in the last 2 years or so I've been on this forum, but not posting, I never really saw all that much activity, some topics sprung up and that was it really. But it's great to see other Captain Scarlet enthusiasts out there!
