Captain Scarlet - Appealing to the modern day audience?

Ok, so I understand that this is not at all what Captain Scarlet stands for, haha, but lets just say he did decide to break young girls hearts out there and become a culture phenomenon all over again...

How would he look?

Here is a start I made:

If anyone wants me to post the original photos I used I can.
I'm terrible with lighting, and not that handy with photoshop. Haha.

I hope others like the concept and have a crack at it.

The pics are great!
I think that he still will be, but if you change him too much, people wont see him as Scarlet, they wont see what they are meant too.

It doesn't count, of course, but most fan fiction has OCS Scarlet with a decent singing voice and Captain Blue as the one who can't carry a tune in a bucket... I can't comment, when I did the BBC 'how musical are you' test, I came one point away from 'doesn't know a quaver from a crotchet'. :wink:

Here's my candidate for a boy band.

That's not so bad. I remember someone from my childhood who forever referred to them as 'crutchets'. :lol:

Anyway, when has a lack of ability to sing been an issue? I can think of several famous pop stars who frankly can't hold a tune. Unless the ''Spectrum Five' (working title) boy band are planning to storm the public through a pop reality show :roll:

, they might still be able to make it in the charts. :grin:

ROFL - very true, Elentari. I have a vivid memory of watching 'Top of the Pops' with my (very) musical elder sister and her absolute distain for the singer at number 1, who was actually performing the song and not miming. When I asked her 'why?' she explained that the performer was off-key and kept missing a particular high note. It sounded okay to me.
My sister explained that with today's modern recording techniques (this was a couple of decades ago) they could now go over the bits that were wrong until they got them right and splice together a version that was all right from which to make the record.

Now, of course, they just have to look fetching and wiggle about with mini-microphones attached to their heads, while the sound system engineers do the rest. Under those circumstances, perhaps even Captain Blue (or me!) could have chart success? :grin:
