I also like his small attempts at humour via one liners at the end of some episodes. For example, "You know me Adam, I don't gamble" that gives you some hint that there is a little more to Scarlet than his work.

"Lieutenant, you know I never gamble!"
That is one of his better comments - the one at the end of The Trap, where he jokes to Caretake Morton that he 'must be indestructible' goes down like a lead balloon with the colonel.

Good to see Scarlet kicking back, and hearing Barry Grey tunes!

He kinda looks gay. I've got nothing against homosexxuals but Scarlet is a puppet...

The gayest moment in the series was in the "Traitor" episode where the Koala base agent says "Get to bed"... I dunno, it was just the tone, it sounded almost like he wanted him to climb in with him.

Now, I have never been one to 'kiss and tell' - one has to think of one's reputation, after all - but I can assure you, on good authority, that dear Captain Scarlet is all man.... and really knows how to treat a 'Lady' - mentioning no names...
Oh dear, I do hope I haven't been too indiscreet. Whatever would Parker say?

Worse - it was actually "Come to bed", which still causes me some juvenile sniggering, 40 years on.
But, Intensity, I can't agree that Scarlet "looks gay" in that scene in Spectrum Strikes Back. Just because he and Blue are taking a moment to catch some rays before getting back to work doesn't imply homosexuality, surely?

God damm you Formula One slash!!
Oh dear! I'll let you in on a little secret of my past. I was watching an episode of Captain Scarlet with my dad when I asked him if Captain Scarlet in the closet with Captain Blue!

I didin't know what it meant at the time! I was only eight!
Or maybe Scarlet is just flirting in a friendly manner, nothing else to it

Back in the more innocent days when it was first shown, I don't suppose it was even considered by the 'target audience' even if the programme makers had a bit of a giggle about it.
Scarlet has always looked extremely uncomfortable in the 'sunbathing' scene (to me) - maybe he just isn't the type who likes to soak up the rays...
At least Blue sounds suitably cheesed off when he says 'Yeah, back to work...'
