To celebrate Captain Magenta's birthday today, a new story from Marion Woods: A Little Misfortune
It's the story of Patrick Donaghue's progress from hard-working student to jailbird to crime lord to Spectrum captain.

I do....she's just a natural!
I'm only halfway through, and enjoying it tremendously so far. Some great original characters, Marion could easily write a 'proper' novel; (don't hit me...you KNOW what I mean!) with her talent.

What a treat ! Just arrived home from a trip away to find this wonderful story awaiting me.
Finely and sympathetically drawn characters with nuances subtle enough to make any author, professional or otherwise, weep in frustration ; interesting, plausible and no doubt very well-researched situations and backgrounds.
Beautifully balanced between description, thought and dialogue, this one has it all. Marion, well done. I know I've said it before, but you set the benchmark. I am seriously in awe.

Thank you all, very much. It is true what they say that: the author is not the best judge of the story... I had some doubt that this one made the grade, I am delighted to discover that, for some readers, it did! 
Mind you, I don't know about a 'benchmark', Skybase Girl. I am glad to say that there are many authors whose stories grace the pages of the web site, who produce excellently crafted, subtle work that I rate very highly. Long may they continue to contribute to the fandom.
Of course, my normal method of rating any story is the number of hits I get when I search for the words 'Blue' and 'Adam'...
