Lunarville 7 -------> Crater 101

Just a couple of questions about these two episodes, which of course lead on from one another, although they were not broadcast simultaneously.

Obviously the Lunar Controller sent out the message that the moon was at peace with the Mysterons and would remain neutral, and also that they had contacted the Mysterons to arrange peace.

I wondered if he was already a Mysteron agent at the time he sent this out. But if he was, why on earth would he have let Spectrum know of the fact he could contact them, as surely it cause Spectrum agents to come out to the moon, and obviously put the discovery of the new Mysteron complex at risk. Surely if he hadn't sent out the message then Spectrum would never have come out there.

This makes me think at the time of this message he was not a Mysteron, and was taken over sometime between his message and the arrival of Scarlet, Blue and Green.

If a Mysteron, why risk the discovery of Crater 101 by announcing contact, which was bound to cause Spectrum to go up there to get the moon back on their side. It just gave them excuse to examine the Humboldt sea.

Thoughts?

Perhaps the Mysterons wanted Spectrum to go and investigate? Maybe they wanted the diamond pulsator taken to Cloudbase so they could destroy the place?
Maybe it was just an excuse for the producers to use bouncy moon cars? :grin:

Why give warnings at all? It is a war of nerves that the Mysterons are waging - making the humans all jumpy is part of the gameplan.

If the LC was a Mysteron by the time he announced the treaty, he gave Spectrum a potential way to communicate with the Mysterons - something they were desperately seeking.

It also gave the Mysterons an ideal way to get rid of Spectrum's top two agents, a task they only failed in because Fraser couldn't keep his mouth shut

On the other hand, if he wasn't a Mysteron at the time, and his offer of peace to the Mysterons was indeed genuine, and he was Mysteronised afterwards, then it goes to show how little concern the Mysterons give to any peace offering presented by humans.

Considering what happened in Dangerous Rendezvous - which is the third part of the "Moon Trilogy", this is also a theory at least worth mentioning.

At the end of the day, humans can be quite an idiotic species. That's a fact. Humans attacked the Mysteron's complex on Mars showing them irrationality, fear and above all, fight or flight, the reflex action that dictates what humans do in a dangerous situation, fight something or run away from it. The Mysterons bare that in mind and so treat the lunar human with little or no regard to their well being; this links into what Chris was saying and maybe a possible reason for what happened, regardless when or if the lunar controller was a mysteron agent, which i personally doubt he was. If you ask me, he acted human, not mysteron agent-esque. In basic, Black attacked them, they realise human just naive carbon lifeforms and show no respect or maybe underestimate the stupidiy of human nature. Or maybe it could just be another game. There is always that to consider.
