He's also really into Discworld. Until I looked at the other stories he's written, I was wracking my brain trying to remember where I recognised his penname from. Then the penny dropped. It's from one of Terry Pratchett's books. A fan of Scarlet AND of Discworld. This Pessimal is obviously a bloke of learning and refinement.

Do you still have your FanFiction.net account? Maybe we can approach the author and ask him if he would like to add this splendidly irreverent story to our list?

Witty, clever and hilarious. There is some gold amongst the dross on FanFiction.net after all.

Also, thank you for the compliment about knowing my stuff concerning the Captain Scarlet canon. That was partly long-ago childhood memories, augmented by digging around and researching - the most excellent timeline on this site was practically all I needed to get dates, times, names right, as well as adding incidental detail. also, if you're going to do Fanfiction anything like successfully, you have to know the canon and make the known "facts" as accurate as possible - winging it simply won't do. It's a hard fact, but you have to be 100% accurate within the fictional world before branching off and making the characters do new things - but new things which are within character.
Most recently, I've been playing with Roman mythology:-

I think could get to like it here...
