P.S. I liked the Blackheart story, even though I had a little trouble with this name being given to a German character. Very nice demonstration of a crackpot character with all the powers own by Scarlet.

Sometthing does have me wondering though,
How easy would it be for Scarlet to pass on his retrometabolism. not via a blood transfusion, but by some other way, like via skin contact or mentally. Now that's a thought. What if Scarlet could pass it on if he wished.

I didn't mean to upset you.
You didn't.
Now for the rest of your idea, can you elaborate a bit? Do you mean, like he would be able to 'heal' someone beside himself?

A bit like how Jesus healed the sick.

What happened to Scarlet was a fluke: a series of events and actions that resulted in a man the Mysterons had - for whatever reason - made indestructible breaking free of their control and displaying a human character, exactly the same as, or very close to, that he had shown before the incident.
It is something that is part of the very fabric of his being - IMO - and not something that can be pinpointed as genetic, blood-related, or transferable. If it were, then surely Dr Fawn, with all the resources he has at his command, would have identified it, isolated it, duplicated it and be selling it on the black market as the ultimate new youth drug!

In fiction someone may wish to develop a scenario where that is not the case and if they produce a rationale that is as plausible as it can be - all well and good.
But for me the whole crux of the matter is that Paul Metcalfe is a unique individual. He had no choice in the matter, he can do nothing about it, and he is - in his alien-human hybrid world - utterly alone.
It is that element of pathos that makes him a great hero, because otherwise I would agree with Lt. Green - it is easy to be brave when you're indestructible.

Still, humans being what we are, I don't doubt that someone would try it. Perhaps as a last ditch effort? Say, someone coming in with massive trauma and needing a blood transfusion?

My view, in an instance such as this, is that Scarlet's blood would be like that of anybody else's and, as such, it wouldn't carry any retrometabolic powers. IMO, Scarlet’s ability to retrometabolise is more than just a basic physiological ability. I’ve mentioned before that I believe he has a trace of the original Mysteron footprint – that is what makes him unique and allows his retrometabolism to work – and he is the only one carrying it due to his direct experience with the Mysterons; without it, I don’t think his power could be ‘transferred’ by a transfusion (or similar procedure), at least not on more than a very temporary basis - if that. That's why I feel that a 'cloned' Scarlet probably wouldn't be able to retrometabolise (without Mysteron intervention, that is

Of course, it is probably worth a try (there would be nothing to lose), but there would also be the niggling point of basic blood group compatibility to think about as well before undergoing any transfusion process.

It would certainly be a most unusual event; one would probably wish to know the reason for the granting of this singular power - an altruistic act, or something altogether more sinister..?
