Christmas Fan Fiction Challenge 2008-2009

But I've only read some of them (mainly the ones with Death as one of the main characters

I couldn't wait to read this story.... ever since it was mention that it was being written

I'm glad you remembered to mention the hourglasses too!... but then, what would the Discworld Death be without his hourglasses?

One L-Space wormhole closed, one to go....

that's madness with a little 'm'... as in 'crazy'...

This week, one story only for our Christmas Challenge.
"Cutting Loose" is also a birhtday story for one of our favourite Spectrum characters, and another wonderful addition that we owe to Marion Woods's fertile imagination!

Come back very soon for more stories to be added to our Challenge. And remember: it will last until January 31!

Nice to see this one re-emerging in a slightly different guise - and especially to note Symphony's acknowledgement that real-life Mr Perfect wasn't exactly like the imagined version!
We January girls always know how to make the most of of our opportunities, though

Marion Woods offers us another story that I'm sure will please all the Captain Blue's fans (and Symphony Angel too...)
Oh, and yeah, there's other Spectrum characters as well!
Be sure to read "Masquerade"

I've just finished it and yet again, I am going to bed much later than advisable, because, Marion, you have kept me up with your sheer artistry. The Blue/Symphony plane scene was so beautifully, realistically written that I could feel her ribs cracking when she hit that wing.
Totally absorbing and engrossing, you have created wonderful new characters and manage to find nuances in the well-loved main characters to ensure that they are still as fresh as ever.
Don't ever stop writing - how will the rest of us find our inspiration ?
Mind you, I'd still like to know how you find the time .... grumble, grumble......

Congratulations on another fine story, Marion. I always thoroughly enjoy reading your work, and this one has been no exception. Well done for allowing Green his five minutes of fame and, dare I say, finally seeing a little action? (Apologies for the innuendo

Marion - for someone who's claimed in the past not to be able to write action scenes, that plane-rescue scene was nail-biting! I remember the training exercise episode from the Angels comic strip in Lady Penelope, and thought at the time that it was a bit of a cop-out. Your solution to the same circumstance was much more exciting.

When you're writing something it can be so difficult to know if you've succeeded in making it exciting or scary or funny - or whatever you intended it to be - presumably because you're too close to the narrative. That's why feedback - of all kinds - is so marvellous.
Thanks again.

Marion, I'll confess right now that I only glanced over the story, as I have to head off outdoors in a second, but I KNOW it' s going to be a great read, which I shall do at my leisure (and probably on printed paper!)
I second the comments about your handling of action stories, you DO write them well!
Take a Christmas bow (as in ow!) Marion!

As for the picture you mention that inspired your fiction, it was one in a collection that I'd hoped to post for 2008 Halloween, but sadly, couldnt complete in time. Perhaps, if Col Chris allows, I might post them for this coming Halloween in 2009.

First, "Pride of a Father", from Intensity Angel, who offers to us another New Captain Scarlet story for Christmas
Then, "Little Shop of Santa", by your friendly neighborhood webmaster, where Captain Scarlet is confronted to the mysterious death of a fellow Spectrum officer.
