Christmas Fan Fiction Challenge 2008-2009
Moderators: chrisbishop, Spectrum Strike Force

For someone who doesn't care for Scarlet you do make a habit of writing him, and very well too.
The story has a good balance of romance and the other details, without being too heavy. The conclusion rounded it off so well.
I like that even in those throes of passion he still makes time for sport. Such a romantic.

I'm am suprised that you'd come up with such a line* though!

*I won't say which line it is, not matter how much I want to

that's madness with a little 'm'... as in 'crazy'...

I'm am suprised that you'd come up with such a line* though! Perhaps your IF was in a mischievious mood at the time?
I haven't a clue what you mean, so I can't possibly comment...

Thank you, Sage, for those kind words. I suppose I write about Scarlet because if I didn't I'd get drummed out of the fandom, and he is - sort of - the hero...

Through reading the fiction on the website, I came to see that many stories partnered him with Rhapsody and – assuming this was canon – I followed suit, although I have to say, she is probably my least favourite Angel, but then it doesn’t matter, because I’m not that fond of him either!

I agree with Sage and MMK - you have Scarlet spot-on, even if he is not your favourite character.
And, I am VERY glad that you have allowed him to enjoy his birthday, after all the punishments he usually gets for the Halloween challenge !

The pictures were good, too.....

I confess to a bit of bias with regard to this story. It's based on one Marion gave me for my birthday, so I was already very fond of it. Good to see Paulie having a nice, normal birthday!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!
BUT, now is the time to post the Christmas week stories for the Challenge! This week, two stories from the same author, Cat 2.
- "Family Christmas", where Captain Blue brings his new girlfried, Lieutenant Almond to his family home.
- "Next Year in Zion", a short vignette about Lieutenant Almond.
Both stories are New Captain Scarlet's.

Very inventive, and interesting even for someone who hasn't read any Pratchett yet (got Good Omens from christmas though).

As someone who has only recently started reading the Discworld novels (and find myself totally hooked!), this is the best of both worlds for me. Scarlet and Death - my two favourites!
I echo Marion's sentiments: yes, more please!

No matter how dark the material, Hazel, you write with such wit and humour ( not to mention the obligatory twist at the end !), that I am filled with admiration at how much can be accomplished within the confines of the short story.
Now let's see if 2009 can be as prolific a year for you as 2008 has been !

Happy New Year, everyone !

I liked that story, although it was a very difficult one to get going. However, as is so often the way, once I'd latched on to the motivation (why was Scarlet having a nice little chat with Death on New Year's Eve?) the rest followed rapidly, and I ended up writing the whole thing in two days. Doing the illustrations took a bit longer, as I had to go and take the photos of the Eye and Big Ben after dark first.
