UPDATES: 2008 HALLOWEEN CHALLENGE
Moderators: chrisbishop, Spectrum Strike Force
For this first week of the Challenge, we have one re-posting (some kind of a tradition, on the website) and two new stories.
The re-posted story is "As Black as Night", by JH Furnish, aka Captain Onyx. A tale of zombies which had never been presented within the Challenge!
The first of our new stories, is "Writer's Block", by our own Hazel Köhler, one of our most talented writers. When se presents a story to the website, we ALWAYS welcome it!
The second story, is by a newcomer. Cat 2, who makes a startling debut by offering us "An Original Revenge", a New Captain Scarlet story.
For more on the Halloween Challenge, and what awaits you in the following weeks, go to http://www.spectrum-headquarters.com/halloween.htm
Next week: other new stories to be posted!

On behalf of Erica (the role model for all Librarians with Attitude) and me, I would just like to say how much we enjoyed Hazel's story.

Erica would remind all readers of the three rules of L-Space (as promulgated by Mr T Pratchett):
(1) Silence
(2) Books must be returned no later than the last date shown, and
(3) the nature of causality must not be interfered with.
Or else...

Although I haven't come across L-space yet in the books (I didn't start reading the books from the first one

When the page first loaded up, I couldn't understand why the title pic was what it was... but eventually realised the 'logic' behind it once I'd read the story.... clever.
I loved reading your fic Hazel

Can't wait to see what other stories everybody has to offer this halloween.

Oh and Hazel, I hope you intend to finish the fic 'Death and the Captain' because in Discworld, Death is one of my favourite characters

As Black As Death
I've read the first one, and I must say, I've enjoyed this one even more. It's sharp, creepy and to the point. Good one Captain Onyx, I've enjoyed reading your work.
Writer's Block
A very different take on things, and a great write. I love the set up, and the image title. A funny halloween story, who would've thought it possible? Hazel, I take my hat off to you.
An Original Revenge
Everyone starts somewhere, and Cat2, you've started off brilliantly. A great write of NCS Captain Blue. It's nice to see a flicker of Blue's largely unknown past. Spooky and sad. I hope we'll see more of you.

First: a New Captain Scarlet story, by Lydia Sheridan: "Bruises", features Lydia's favourite character... but in a way you have never seen her before.
Secondly: A classic Scarlet with "A Night to Remember", by Sue Stanhope. Sue is one of our long established writers, and every time she presents a new story, it's something to celebrate!
With now EIGHT new stories announced in the upcoming weeks, the Halloween Challenge seems again this year to become a well-assured success. And there's nothing to say that other projects won't be added in the next days!
Enjoy your reading and keep your eyes peeled for more!

You've made my story look really good! I was wondering what pictures would be chosen to 'illustrate' it, because it hasn't really got one main element, but I was of course forgetting what was present practically throughout - the horses! I will admit to actually really wanting one of those soft toy horses...

Thank you again! You've done a great job with it!
There is one teeny-tiny thing I will say though (Don't worry, nit-picking)...on the synopsis/tagline/summary thing, you've missed the 'R' off 'real'. Sorry bout that, just thought I should say...

Third time, thank you! (In case you can't tell, I am incredibly pleased and grateful!

xx
P.S. It's been an oddly Gerry Anderson day. My story on NCS is posted and also I picked up...
A Thunderbird 3 100 piece jigsaw (One piece missing. Why can't they be bothered to check? It's not like it's 1000 pieces!)
A Thunderbirds Official Annual (With some very odd dates in it, but Jeff Tracys wifes name, which is nice)
And a little NCS Scarlet figure (I've searched the internet, and it turns out he's a KFC toy, just without the paper disk shooter and base)
...from Cancer Research, Douglas MacMillan and Oxfam Charity shops respectively. Weird, as I never find GA things in these shops, especially three on the same day...
People! Go to your local charity shops and find gold!

I know this is sorta irrelevant, I'm just saying it was a really good day. I was due one.

Congratulations to Serena Lewis for 'Bruises' and to Sue Stanhope for 'A night to remember'. (I just loved the part with the iron maiden... but then, I guess that's no surprise...

I've been trying desperately to finish "Signals", but It hasn't happened. I can hear Marion screaming at me, "You have to shut these people up!" and I know it to be true. I just haven't learned the lesson yet.
I am so tired I can't think straight. I daresay I will get there in the end !

"Rewind", by our very prolific Marion Woods - who yet again offers us one marvellous - and creepy! - story.
And "On this Night of Nights", by Intensity Angel. Her second story, and her first Classic Captain Scarlet tale.
Enjoy - and come back next week for more!

Well done, Intensity - that was very moving. We don't hear enough about Harmony.
Marion - what can I say? Another cracker. I had the considerable pleasure of beta-ing the story at various stages during its creation, and never got tired of reading it.

Right, I've now read 'Bruises' and 'A Night To Remember'.
Bruises: Well done Serena for once again placing Ochre on our screens. It's nice to learn a bit more about her past. Its nice reading stories about the characters when they were kids/ teenagers.
A Night To Remember: A true spooky tale, I love the part about Magenta ended up in that cell. Well told, and it gave me a creeps! Now that's unusual. Well done Sue.
