Q about transplants/organ donation
Moderator: Spectrum Strike Force
The question of the day really is whether or not Scarlet is in fact still human. Transplantation of organs between species (xenografts) are much more susceptible to rejection due to a fundamental difference in antigen than transplantation between members of the same species (allografts).
As I said, I'll get back to you with a proper post soon, but I thought I'd throw that into the mix for everyone to play around with

To answer MMK, though, transplantation success does vary with the organ(s) being transplanted, and sometimes there are oddities, such as the fact that pancreas transplantations have a much higher chance of surviving more than 5 years if a matching kidney is also transplanted. Lungs seem to have a much lower chance of surviving in the long term than other organs. Go figure.

Good point, but Scarlet is neither Mysteron nor Human, he's both. But biologically he is Mysteron and the a word too.

Captain Blue says at the start of every episode (almost) that the Mysterons create an 'exact likeness' but to do that 'first, they must kill.' Therefore, Scarlet is an 'exact likeness' of a human being - possibly even more exact than the Mysterons expected, you can't really see them being pleased that they'd recreated such a very stubborn and determined man

And if it did, would it just temporarily heal them or affect them on a more long term basis?
Would it be a weaker gene mutation, ie: take longer to retometabolise, or would they theoretically have the same recovery time as Scarlet?
Just curios

Right, here's my theory on these questions.
I reckon it would change their metabolism for a short while, and then have a longer effect, ie their metabolism would always be higher than what it had been before the blood transfusion. believe a person would have to have a considerable amount of Scarlet's blood to become anything near to Scarlet himself.

If it was, surely Spectrum would have set up a bood bank to top up its senior agents before missions, endowing them with temporary invulnerability. Either that or Fawn / Gold would have developed a serum which did the same thing.

If not for that, it would have been very difficult. to cross-match blood
It would be safe to asume that they would have some type of blood replacement substance in the Cloudbase Sickbay. Or perhaps down the road, they would develop some kind of drug, which would stimulate blood regeneration in the body.

Now hang on a minute! What about if someone was dying out on the field, Fawn or another Spectrum doctor had the equipment to carry out a person to person blood transfusion (Never should've watched that horror movie, I'm a little unnerved about all this blood talk!) and Scarlet was the only person whose blood type matched the dying person, if we are presuming Scarlet's blood wouldn't mix well with another's T-Cells and B-Cells, surely it would be just a waste of time? What if Scarlet's blood was treated like a virus would be, destroyed by the immune system?

Lets say, for arguments (and fanfiction's) sake, that retrometabolism can be passed through the blood, how much would it take for it to become active?
I suppose they would have a blood bank aboard Cloudbase but what happened if somone with the same blood type as Scarlet (assuming he HAS a blood type still?) gets seriously injured, and the blood bank runs out of that particular type, would they then use Scarlet's blood as a last minute solution?
Maybe because he is a completely new and fictional hybrid, maybe it CAN be transfered?

If someone was in dire need of a blood transfusion, and they were on board Cloudbase, as I mentioned before, a direct transfusion from another person, with the same blood type would be possible, however I'm betting that there are many people on Cloudbase that have the same blood type so Scarlet would probably be right at the bottom of the list.
And yes, Scarlet would still have a blood type.
I think I mentioned somewhere how much I reckoned it would take for a fair bit and need time, as cells produce more cells (mitosis)

Does anyone actually know what Scarlet's blood type is?
