Hang on, I just thought of something odd. What if Captain Grey got a pet sealion, y'know being as Cloudbase has a swimming pool.

LOL I doubt they could get one up there, and it'd be a lot of work. Not sure people would appreciate having to give up the pool for them either.

Hmm not necessary. Fanon isn't set in stone, just something another writer made up and it got co-opted by others. So we can all chip in and take or leave it*. If it doesn't run completely counter to canon information, and you can come up with a plausable explanation then people will still enjoy the story.

Of course if your story is NCS then it doesn't matter. It's still so new as a fandom that almost anything is fair game for characterisation.

*I cherry pick really. With Scarlet's family/backstory I follow fanon, but already had some of Blue's & Magenta's established before coming here, so didn't want to give them up. And I think everyone has diffrent names for Green's siblings. It's working out quite well. Other people have diffrent ideas too.

Just as well. I decided to give Captain Scarlet a long lost sister in the Oirignal Series. As for NCS, I've given both Rhapsody and Captain Grey backgrounds in the Royal Navy and sort of paired them up. Not to mention given Rhapsody a pet budgie. People may disagree with me there but I just had a feeling that Rhaps and Grey would get on and as she's British, I thought Rhapsody would go for a little pet. Blue Budgies are a British thing.

Umm, I was wondering about Grey & the sealion. Were you thinking OCS or NCS? No reason why both characters couldn't have the same watery backgrounds, I suppose.

Rhaps & Grey? In the original series, unlikely. I must admit it didn't occur to me in the new one, for all that they're both British. I didn't think an English toff ( not that she might be, despite the double-barrelled name) would go for a Glaswegian sounding Scot !

Well the background I gave them was that they were in love whilst in the Royal Navy. Their ship sunk and Grey thought Rhapsody had been killed. Years later, hey, they're both in Spectrum and start to rekindle their romance.

As for the sealion, that was for the OS Captain Grey.

I'm currently writing a fan fiction that involves the OS Harmony saving a baby dolphin from a drift net and then the mother saves Harmony in return.

But something else comes to mind, what about mythical pets? Like dragons?

I have given him a tank of tropical fish that are in his quarters. So he'll have likeminded companions.

Uh maybe mythical ones might work, if the story was AU and set in a world where they had those animals.

In an OS fan fiction that I've recently started, Rhapsody brings a baby dragon (named Pint) onboard Cloudbase and he sort of becomes attached to Captain Scarlet and won't leave him alone.

If Spectrum did have a mascot, I was thinking it would be a bird of prey, one that flies in the higher altitudes, like a Golden Eagle or a Condor. Those are endangered species. And I'm sure a ground facility would be able to provide the bird with what it needed, Spectrum Headquarters London could easily have a large bird enclosure, think about it, large area to roam, someone can fly the bird well out of the general flight zone and the bird would be within Spectrum.

I think a good mascot for Spectrum. Something like a Kestrel
