Stingray

Yes there was! He appeared in 'Treasure Down Below', he had joined forces with the underwater pirates, Ebrun & Trel.
But Black's intentions were motivated by greed! Sound familiar??

Loved the intro which got me hooked, and the action sequences with Stingray jumping out of the water followed by a terror fish were great as well as Marenville (sp) going to battle stations and dispaering underground were great.
Some of the later episodes are abit foggy for me, but some of the early ones were classics.
Anyone else tried the video clips on the official carlton video site? The link just fails for me as it says server not found.

Stingray leaping out of the water with the Terror Fish, was in "Plant Of Doom"

I remember as a kid doing the same thing, also sitting on a chair and pretending I was Virgil controlling the remote control cars in "Trapped In The Sky".
Again, the launch sequence was quite interesting in this show etc, I still remember the episode where two underwater aliens wanted to take Stingray and they sat in the chairs and went down towards Stingray not knowing Marina had submerged Stingray, still a great comical moment when the underwater creatures/aliens realise Stingray is not there and they flapping around in the water

However, Troy's apparent two-timing with Marina & Atlanta doesn't exactly make him the most moral of characters!!
On the other hand, the inclusion of a love triangle did indeed add a most interesting dimension to the series!!

STORM OF PASSION By Kristin D. (DartBrat701)
*Author's note- This story is based on the STINGRAY episode, 'Set Sail For Adventure'
The story begins with Admiral Jack Denver making a bet with Commander Sam Shore that the old sailing vessels of 300 years ago are better than the modern-day WASP vessels. Denver recruits Captain Troy Tempest & Lieutenant George "Phones" Sheridan to accompany him on this journey...against Shore's better judgement.
Therefore, Shore orders Troy to fake an illness. This will enable him and Marina to secretly escort the galleon in Stingray, staying beneath the surface during the day, only to surface at night to receive light-coded messages from Phones.
That evening after launch, Troy surfaces to receive Phones' message, he reported that all is well aboard the old ship and that Sub-Lieutenant John H. Fisher is also aboard. (Admiral Denver, in retaliation, had grabbed Fisher to take Troy's place, much to the chagrin of Shore).
But, all was NOT well! Tempest reported to the Commander, that the galleon is sailing directly into the path of a severe storm.
Later, as the storm raged on the surface, Troy struggled to keep Stingray in close proximity to the old wooden ship without colliding, as Marina manned the hydrophones. The storm had caused the galleon to drift many miles off course, Marina eventually had lost the signal!
"Can you still hear the soundings of the galleon, Marina?" Troy asked, as Marina sadly nodded "no", he noticed the obviously worried look in her eyes.
"Well, we'll stay the galleon's original course, we might pick them up later" Troy said, as he reduced the craft to a low-cruising speed and activated the Automatic Bosun. He then removed his outer uniform tunic and draped it over the portside pilot's seat as Marina took off the headset. The two had then repaired down below to the crew quarters section to grab a couple precious hours of rest before resuming the search.
Shortly, dressed in pajamas, Troy noticed the door to Marina's cabin was still open, he walked in to wish her goodnight. Instead, he found her sitting on the bunk crying.
"Aw Marina, what's the matter?" Troy gently asked, as he sat beside her, "Are you still worried about Phones & Lt. Fisher?" as she sadly weeped "Yes". "Don't worry honey, we'll find them, soon" He softly said, as he held her and tenderly wiped the tears from her face.
Her green eyes then lovingly gazed into the deep-blue sparkle of his. But then, he backed away...as if he just wanted to run. As Troy rose off the bunk, he could see the obviously hurt look on Marina's face, he then paused, looking...confused.
~Troy Tempest, you're a damned fool!!~ He thought to himself, ~Why do you keep running away? You have a beautiful woman here, who is very much in love with you and who is very grateful to you for rescuing her from a life of misery under Lord Titan...and you still WON'T reciprocate her feelings she has for you! If you run away this time, you'll never forgive yourself, nor will SHE forgive you!!~
"Oh Marina, my Marina...I'm sorry, please forgive me!" Troy softly said as he went back to her. Slowly and fondly, he took her into his arms. Words were not needed, the look in each other's eyes told what was in their hearts.
He drew her closer and kissed her, she wrapped her arms around Troy's neck and parted her lips. As the kiss grew longer and deeper, he enveloped his lips around hers, slowly exploring the delicious satin of her mouth. Fire licked under his skin and his arms tightened around her, pressing her warm softness against his throbbing six-foot-two body.
She opened her mouth wider beneath his as he groaned in ecstasy, he was suddenly lost in a haze of lust. For the first time since they met, he can let his inhibitions run wild with her!
As lips were clinging and breaths panting, their clothing began to fall onto the floor like autumn leaves off a tree. Marina rested her head on Troy's chest and closed her eyes, his warm breath feathered across her neck as she absorbed the feel of bare skin against hers, the steady, rapid thump of his heart against her cheek.
Did Troy carry her over to the bed, or did they walk? He thought he must have carried her, but he could not be sure; only that they were both upon it, his body beneath hers. She delighted in the warm, intoxicating feel of his bare chest and belly against hers, his heartbeat in unison with hers, their bodies becoming one.
Marina was happy, happier than she could ever be since she first had laid eyes on Troy, on that fateful day on Titanica. The moment that she had longed for had finally came, to be alone with him, to have him all to herself!
Time ceased to tick and began to flow, both were afraid to sleep, for fear of being cheated out of an experience so intimate and so very beautiful. This wasn't just love between Terranean & Pacifican, but more like between a man and a woman...much more!!
But alas, Morpheus had finally succeeded in bringing the two young lovers into his realm of sleep!
Four hours later, Marina awoke first, she was happy and relieved to still find Troy next to her. His facial features made him look so angel-like as he slept. She snuggled up next to him, resting her head on his shoulder, she gently caressed his chest, working down to his stomach, he very slowly awoke.
"Good morning Marina." Troy softly said in a deep, low voice, "Did you sleep well?", as she happily nodded "yes" and smiled at him. They shared a warm kiss and embrace for a few minutes, before finally both rising out of bed.
Marina quickly showered and dressed, she then went to the galley to make coffee while Troy showered, shaved and got dressed. They both then went back up to control, Troy made a radio report to Marineville as Marina took her position back at the hydrophones to hopefully locate Phones, Lt. Fisher and Admiral Denver's signal.
As Troy put his outer uniform back on, he made a sworn pledge to himself, to NEVER let anyone...especially Atlanta, know about those intimate moments that he and Marina had shared!!!

The world totally needs more stingray smut, lol.
Troy does drive me insane, being so patronising and sexist, and then the girls being damsels and crying all the time. Which is kinda annoying because there is clearly a lot of potential there.

Speaking personally, I liked Surface Agent X20. Okay, he was an incompetent little weasel, but I kind-of felt the poor guy had just been dealt a bad hand and was trying to make the best of it. I also had a sneaking suspicion that he and Marina might perhaps have had a bit of a past, and that the animosity between them subsequent to her throwing in her lot with the WASPs might have been exacerbated with a personal element from way back - before he made the mistake of introducing her to an up-and-coming young megalomaniac with imperial ambitions called Titan, perhaps? For a somewhat more sympathetic treatment of him (I did say "somewhat") than the original series allowed, visit http://www.brown-scarlet.co.uk/meet-the-enemy/x20.html.

That interview with X20 is fabulous! Both sides of the war explored, and some rather unexpected 'revelations' about Marina - love it! Some excellent writing there.
