Does Colonel White suffer from mood swings?

I've been watching my boxed set of OCS and I've noticed something. I think Colonel White is a moody guy indeed. In several episodes he's shouting at people:

''This is a Red Alert not a stroll around the deck'

Or for showing any concern for their friends or for treating his desk like a "rest centre". Then in other episodes he's showing concern for a guard who if you ask me needs to be sacked for failing to do his job.

Colonel White...suffers from mood swings is he really suffering from PMS?

Permanent Motion ( or even Martian ?) Sickness ? After all, all that Cloudbase turbulance......

I'd be quite seriously worried if it was the other kind of PMS. Maybe something even Dr Fawn couldn't sort out !

I have to say that Colonel White does not suffer from mood swings. He is a career armed servant (British and World Navies) and former spymaster, and as such, he has had to learn the import of spittle-and-polish conduct the hard way. This has led him to insist on no less from his senior staff members.

Oh, I don't know. trying to keep order amongst the rabble of Cloudbase would exhaust the patience of a saint
Blue and Scarlet - on several occasions - disobey direct orders, so I reckon he's allowed to get stroppy now and again, especially as they all know his bark is worse than his bite...

Well, all the astrology books do say that mood swings are a common trait among those born under the sign of Cancer. Just how much astrological knowledge did Sylvia Anderson use in creating these characters?

That's a point. I have this little astrology book, and looking up the characters' birthdays you can spot several similarities
I guess it is one way to invent so many people from scratch?

Well yes that's true. Maybe there's something to it; always thought Blue is such a typical virgo.

I remember looking into the astrological stuff a while ago (with nothing better to do), and seeing the similarities in personality.

It almost follows through with our favourite pairings, too (but in reverse). Apparantly, Blue & Symphony are on solid ground (they're perfect, elementally speaking), whereas Rhapsody & Scarlet are fiery and passionate.

I had said in a previous post that Colonel White did not suffer from mood swings, and that's true. If he seems to, it's only because he approaches his job the way a father would approach the child-care of sometimes-disobedient children he has to keep in line--extending all the way to concern if any of those children should be injured in any way.

Colonel White has good days and bad days, like everyone else, he was every right to angry, what if you're top agent was annoying you like crazy?

White is a smart person, he knows when he should be sympathetic or strict. Besides he's the commandering chiefof Spectrum. He's in charge and part of his job would be to keep spirits up and mischief and wrong doings down.

I think the colonel does a great job in what must be difficult circumstances. It can't be easy running Cloudbase: not everyone there has had military training and it was a gamble to create an organisation with such an eclectic mix of characters and backgrounds as the senior field agants.
I reckon he makes allowances for that, but lets everyone know where he draws the line - and owe betides anyone who crosses that line - especially on purpose.
