He's got other old-fashioned values in the series, so I thought an "old-fashioned romantic" would be a very logical addition...

Actually, what I know about Captain Scarlet as a martial artist is due to the fact that the Harmony Angel is a fourth (maybe soon to be fifth) dan black-belt judoka, and as such, she could be sensei, or instructor, to the entire Cloudbase senior staff. In "Fifth Dan," I have her carrying out just that duty.

That's the reason I describe Charles Gray, call sign Colonel White, as being a generalissimo-admiralissimo. It emphasizes that he is superior in grade to all other World Armed Forces officers.
The Constitution of the World Government of Earth, of course, elevates the World President, a civilian, above any general or admiral.

One reason for that was the low availability of the late Charles Tingwell, who provided his voice. But Matt is right; he isn't included in the stories as often as he could be.

As intriguing as the idea seems to be, it seems to me that Captain Scarlet, WAAF Special Forces Colonel Paul Metcalfe as was, would rather concentrate on his duties than indulge in that many vices. He's already known not to be a gambler; I don't see any reason for him to take advantage of the services of one of those who used to be called "Hooker's girls."

Part of the fun of Fan Fiction is putting some meat on the bones of the characters and filing in the gaps in their 'social' lives. I personally think that Scarlet would want a relationship with someone, ( and I am not talking about Hooker's - or any one else's - girls, but a long term, committed relationship) if only for the emotional stability and support that brings. Poor chap has a pretty hard time of it, surely he can be allowed some comfort in his life?

It's not entirely unheard of for there to be people who have no interest in romantic/sexual relationships. He and Blue are close in canon, so he's not entirely without suppourt.
But it does seem more likely, and more interesting, for Scarlet to have relationship (hooker don't seem his style, he strikes me as more of an old fashioned romantic).

It could be said that the fanon theory that they were (once upon a time, if not still) a couple, and that Scarlet and Destiny had/have a relationship, is based on what's shown on TV.
Destiny is the only angel to get a credit to her self, and she and Scarlet get rather chummy in the ditch during 'Seek and Destroy'... I mean, she doesn't take the chance to cuddle up with Captain Blue (the silly girl) does she?

And after a near miss with debris Scarlet straight away asks if she's OK, apparently no thought for Blue. So hmm possible hint as to where his priorities lay.
He also eyed her up in Model Spy, even in that horrid outfit, love must be blind.
Attack on cloudbase was a dream of course; but Destiny did get really concerned about Scarlet, and wanted to take his place to survey the mysteron craft.
Far as canon goes that seemed a pretty decent sign there's something between them. Which I picked up on even as a kid.

Colonel Chris came up with that one. When I read that both had served in the WAAF, I merely thought they knew each other from there, but not in the biblical sense.

I suppose it simply proves that, Mysteronisation not withstanding, he's a pretty red-blooded heterosexual. Well, that's my view

Oh yeah and Scarlet & Destiny went on a date in 'big ben strikes again' (with Blue & Melody, but still).
Yeah Scarlet's alright really. Not there's anything wrong with him, or any guy, not being all red blooded and whatever.

I have written a 'drabble' along those lines:
It hadn’t made sense: Scarlet got seasick – not him - why should he check the guest list for the evening’s party while they cruised Monte Carlo Bay?
It’d been Symphony’s idea; she was still mad at him.
Later, he was profoundly grateful Scarlet had gone; he’d saved the lives of everyone onboard.
Rushing to the marina after the explosion, all pretence of indifference forgotten; he’d enfolded Karen in his arms, so thankful she was safe he only remembered the others when she described Scarlet’s bravery. Ashamed, he apologised to his partner.
“C’est l’amour,” Paul replied, smiling understandingly at the lovers.
I must admit that in my pre-website days, I had Paul and Juliette as a couple, but then Rhapsody was never my favourite Angel.
