Thank Heavens for Network DVD!!They re putting some truly great programming out there for everyone to enjoy,and on a whim while out shopping on Friday i bought an early present to myself...The Secret Service on DVD!!

Let me tell you,it s wonderful.The perfect antidote to those post-NCS blues.And you ll have a lot of fun spotting other"actors" as well.

I d only ever seen one episode before and that was way,way back at Fanderson 82.

Such a shame this sweet,charming and very funny programme got cut off in it s prime because Lew Grade thought no-one would understand "Unwinese"(though he was probably right!!)

But do yourselves a favour and ask Santa to slip this in your stocking.I ca nt recommend it highly enough!!

I was fortunate to see the series -on video (I had never seen it on TV ) very recently. Playing spot the puppet was fun - for instance: there was the Captain Scarlet puppet as Agent Paul Blake (who has sort of slipped into fandom as being Paul Metcalfe's grandfather...) and - most interestingly (for me, anyway) the Captain Blue puppet with dark hair - shame he was only in one episode!
It's also a shame you can't do screen captures from videos....

Just tell me on which episode and what scene(s) you want the screen capture, Marion! If it doesn't mean disabling my Region 2 setting on my DVD-rom player, I'll do it for you :grin:

I also do need a picture of the 'dark-haired' Blue puppet, for the upcoming rewritten bio of Captain Blue...

Sounds like a fun game. Course if you have the CS book you can cheat a bit.
Then you can go off of fun crazy plot bunny type tangents trying to link the series and characters together.
Have some of your stuff with Paul Blake, it's really lovely.
Hmm can't picture Blue with dark hair, is he as gorgeous as before?
That sucks, oh well guess we'll just have to get the DVDs

*sigh* the things we do for our fandoms.

I bought it myself recently, and nearly scared myself silly when Captain Black appeared in The Deadly Whisper', after thinking that the opening scene of a guy looking through binoculars was somewhat familiar! I missed the dark-haired Blue - have to go back and watch more closely this time. Shame :grin:

Thanks Chris - 'dark-haired' Blue appears in 'Mayday' - as a business man who twigs to the evil plot being planned... I'd love a pic of him.... :-;)

The Secret Service will be released in Australia around June, so I'm looking forward to it. I'm probably going to buy UFO first though. I just won 2 UFO videos on eBay so that'll give me a taste of the show.

On the topic of revamps, I thought it was cool to see Captain Black in Joe 90's "Viva Cordova" did anyone else think so? It was also great to see Captains Ochre, Grey, and Magenta in other episodes but they were reused on a little too many occasions (I believe Dr Fawn was playing two different characters in Viva Cordova!) And when the flight attendant and hospital secretary came on, I was sure I'd seen them somewhere before! :wink:

Just had a read 'of the complete book of captain scarlet' and apparently Blue also appears in 'Recall to service' as Proffesor Graham. Then later on as the character in may-day (an ill-fated tool-marker named Joe apparently)

Ah gotta love useless trivia.

Of course you would, he's adorable. Wouldn't mind one myself either. If only for morbid curiosity.
Ooh what update, sounds intriguing, shall look forward to that.

I've written one for Harmony already and plan on doing Magenta soon (or maybe Symphony, oh the choices).
