Captain Magenta's cover story...
Moderator: Spectrum Strike Force
So, does anyone know how Patrick Donaghue's rehabilitation to all round Spectrum good guy was accomplished?
We're told that Richard Fraser may - or may not - have undergone a 'fake' assassination and plastic surgery, to protect him (and Spectrum) from the consequences of his being recognised.
Presumably, Magenta's one-time business associates, might have been equally unhappy to think their crony was now fighting against them - but I can't remember what his cover story was?
Is he supposed to be dead too? Or is he supposed to be in prison? (I'm not sure that isn't the fanon answer...

I just love these loose ends...

With fanon I got the impression they think he's in jail. Then in 'dead ringer' the mysteron clone of him was destroyed, so guess now people think he's dead.

Born Patrick Donaghue on 20 May, 2034, in Dublin, Ireland, before emigrating to New York, Magenta is a graduate of Yale University. Magenta has degrees in Physics, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology. Although he has a criminal background, Spectrum believes he is a worthwhile addition to their team, due to his strength of character.
I know at one time he was a major Mister Big of the new york crime sindicate(sp?). He virtually ran the criminal organistation. Something happened it was never really revealed exactly what. There's some speculation that he saved possibly some dignatry or other.
Anyways he was given a full pardon for all his criminal activites and was sugeested to the selection commity for the then being set up Spectrum.
Hope this helps somewhat!

Although, I'm wondering - did you have a question regarding Magenta within your post? I read it, but I couldn't find it!

I suspect this is in response to my question on an earlier thread about what Magenta's cover story was, when he joined Spectrum, Chris...

Problem is the only time we're told Magenta goes to prison is a for political protest while at Yale.
He is given a 'free pardon' when he joins Spectrum - but what for is a mystery - we don't know he was ever accused - let alone convicted - of anything criminal.
It also doesn't explain how his departure is explained to his former associates. I doubt they'd be too pleased to think he was working with an organisation that had 'police powers'...

We're told that Ochre's identity is protected by a fake assassination - probably - but not what's done to protect Magenta, who would surely be as much a target for reprisals as his partner?
