Halloween Challenge 2010
Moderator: Spectrum Strike Force
Like every year before, the Spectrum Headquarters invites people to write and submit stories to this most popular of challenges. With the characters and settings of the Captain Scarlet series in mind (whether classic series or new one), you have to write a story theme related story for Halloween.
The story could be related to the holiday itself, with all that is attached to it, or simply, it could be related on one of the many aspects related to horror, or fantastic tales, which are generally related to Halloween. The Halloween Challenge is the time to present crossovers, alternate universes stories, stories where people the main characters die, 'what if' stories, and more!
Let your imagination run wild! Write your story and submit it to the website at spectrum_hq@hotmail.com
See the Halloween page for more details and for the complete rules, and to read some of the many stories from past years, go to the Halloween stories page.

Second week into the 2010 Edition of our Halloween Challenge!
On this 2010-10-10 (couldn't pass up the change to post something on this date!), we have two new postings. Actually, ONE brand-new posting, by our own Marion Woods, and one re-posting of a few years ago, that had not been included in the Halloween Challenge yet. We're correcting that overlook.
Firstly, the new posted story:
AMBER ALERT, by Marion Woods. A ceremonial occasion proves a dangerous mission for Captain Scarlet and Captain Blue - for quite different reasons.
http://www.spectrum-headquarters.com/fa ... _alert.htm
And our re-posted story, which has been previously posted as a Multiverse story.
END OF EVERYTHING, by Sue Stanhope. The War of Nerves is finished... but with dire consequences.
http://www.spectrum-headquarters.com/fa ... ything.htm
Again a reminder to those who would like to participate: you still have some time in front of you! But remember: October 31st is Halloween night and it's our deadline! If you have a story or some picture(s) to send us, go ahead!
See you next week!

"Frequent Flier", by Hazel Köhler. All sorts of people pass through airports, to all sorts of destinations. Some people, of course, travel more often than others...

"The Night Stairs", by Cat2. New Captain Scarlet story. A Spectrum team passed a holiday in a haunted house.

In this last week of our Halloween Challenge, we have two new postings on our website for your enjoyment:
First: the second part of the multipart story, which first chapter was posted last week:
Biohazard, Part 2", by Raax the Ice Warrior. When the Mysterons threaten to destroy Raccoon City, Spectrum are sent off to investigate, but some unusual foes are waiting for them... and they want brains. Cross-over with the 'Resident Evil' videogame.
http://www.spectrum-headquarters.com/fa ... zard_2.htm
And secondly: a nice surprise from our friend Marion Woods:
"False Knight of the Road". Sometimes, all the secrecy in the world can't protect those we love.

And as a bonus, a few pictures were added on the Halloween Pictures page:

This is the last posting for the 2010 Edition of the Halloween Challenge! And yet again, we can consider this year like a success!
Three postings have been added to complete our challenge this year, which brings us to THIRTEEN postings in all - and Thirteen, as all the Captain Scarlet's fans know, is our hero lucky number!
Part 3 of BIOHAZARD, our multi-parter this year, by newcomer Raax the Ice Warrior has been posted, bringing the tale to its conclusion!
http://www.spectrum-headquarters.com/fa ... zard_3.htm
Infinity Angel also offers us a second story for this year's Halloween:
BLACK VERMIN. Captain Ochre fights for his life against the nastiest and dirtiest foes imaginable.
http://www.spectrum-headquarters.com/fa ... vermin.htm
And finally, I also offers my own story:
THAT WHICH DOESN'T KILL YOU, by Chris Bishop. What really happened during the "Attack on Cloudbase" events? Was it really all a dream?
http://www.spectrum-headquarters.com/fa ... ll_you.htm
My other listed story "Apocalypse", which is running longer than I first anticipated, will be posted at a later date. Sorry about that, folks!
Now the Halloween Challenge and done - and what awaits us next? Why the Christmas Challenge, of course, soon to be officially announced. And after that, stay tuned for even more goodies!

I also happen to know that Hazel did a magnificent job of beta-reading many of the stories, including my own, and so some of the credit for getting the offerings ready for us all to enjoy must go to her as well.

I am sorry that 'Apocalypse' is delayed, but I am sure it'll be well worth the wait and the story you have given us is fantastic

I do love stories that are the fan fiction writer's guesstimation of 'what ended up on the cutting room floor' when they made the episodes!

Christmas? Oh no - it can't be that time of the year already!
