Other Customs
Thought
I’d include pics of the other NCS customs with notes.
I was pretty proud of this BD Captain Scarlet, which I’ve since parted with – the bloodier the better, as far as Scarlet is concerned
– I was pleased with bloody-packaging the most!

Close-up
of BD Scarlet, complete with grimace and black eyes. I
drilled the holes through then filled them with putty and painted them. BD Scarlet with a Mysteron Agent. I’ve always figured this guy was once a Captain, but could never settle on a colour. Purple maybe? Note
Scarlet’s bloodied knuckles and messed-up hat. |

Another
BD Scarlet, this time based on Shapeshifter.
I
loved that you got to see Scarlet sans armour in that episode so I thought
it’d lend itself to a figure well.
The
show-accurate customs are my favourite. The paint jobs on the Bandai versions
are pretty basic, and what I loved about the show is that there are so many
details, shades and textures on the costumes. I could have gone a lot further
with these. Scarlet looks like he has various shades of red on parts of his
costume, according to the material they’re made from. Even the black parts
look different according to the light.
I was pleased with Captain Blue’s face, though the blue shade still isn’t quite right.
Scarlet’s
Raid Bike
This
was a b*tch to do – the paint wouldn’t take and it was very fiddly.
I’m
almost relieved I don’t have the time, money or space for a fleet of Stallions..!
I
was absolutely made up when they finally produced a Destiny figure – they were
very straightforward customs and
Milliput was a welcome addition to the process by then. I was disappointed I
couldn’t save them from looking pugly. I did get better, by the time I did
Melody she was looking a bit more human..!
Tried to have a little variation skin colour-wise. They all look healthier than Destiny with her funny pink face!
I did virtually no sculpting on Rhapsody, apart from lowering her pony tail into more of a plait –
the animators seem to have used a very similar CG model to Destiny.
Oops – Batmen in the background!
And
one more custom!
Here’s
Captain Ochre – not a bad job overall but I’m not entirely satisfied. The
head is from a Seaquest figure, the arms and torso are a Destiny Angel and the
legs are Captain Scarlet – I molded the armour and used the belt (cut to fit)
and shoulder epaulettes from Scarlet to finish it off.
