Hmm. Animated puppets. Interesting. That's certainally something to drag my flatmates to see..

I had to mention this since it is now out in the UK, and has been seen by yours truely.

Well, my goodness. Which Anderson show did they not take things from? I spotted Thunderbirds, Stingray and CS (as well as Star Wars), and not having seen the others, may well have missed references to others. The exaggerated problems that the puppets from TB had with walking had me in stitches from the very beginning, and the C/O's floating chair (reminiscent of Commander Shore from Stingray) added a little extra hilarity.
I also loved the fact that they put the puppets into life-sized sets so that you could see the true size of them (the cats, sorry, jaguars... ).
Oh, and by the way, that scene that was talked about so much - you know the one, the sex scene - well it really is there . I'm having trouble writing again after that! All I can see in my head is the darn puppets!

If you can cope with Parker & Stone's work (Think South Park Movie with puppets), then you really can't miss this! The vomit scene is a little excessive, but other than that, it truely is a fantastic piece of spoof cinematography.

I'm still giggling, several days afterwards...

For a movie that's got "The funniest film of the year (The Sun)" written on top of the video box, this one seems to have come and gone surprisingly quietly, it seems to me. I watched it with my teenage kids a couple of weeks ago - not something I'd recommend if you don't want to find yourself wondering whether everyone in your family can understand the more risque jokes, and emphatically not if you don't want to have to explain them - and spent a very merry hour and a half admiring the quality of both the production and the humour (both the subtle and the utterly unsubtle).

To be honest, I felt that the sex scenes and the profanities were rather superfluous to requirements, being more simply the calling-cards of the South Park production team than actually contributing materially to the plot. The whole thing would have been a triumph without them: I don't think anybody who ever watched Thunderbirds could fail to be impressed at the way the atmosphere of the original shows had been both meticulously preserved and mercilessly parodied simultaneously. Speaking personally, I think my favourite scene was the one where Kim Jong Il takes a leaf out of "You Only Life Twice" and consigns Hans Blix to his tank of pet piranha fish - but there were just so many gems in that sort of line that it's difficult to remember them all.

The caracatures of the terrorists were simply fabulous: I mean, isn't it just so obvious that you'd be able to spot a bunch of terrorists about to plant a bomb in a Paris street by the simple expedient that they look like a bunch of terrorists? It latches onto the suspicion I've had for ages that there are an awful lot of people out there who quite sincerely believe that you CAN spot a terrorist because he looks like one, in the same way that you can always spot a witch because she'll be wearing a black pointed hat and riding a broomstick. Goodies look like goodies, and baddies look like baddies - just like they did in Thunderbirds all those years ago.

To anyone who watches the DVD, don't forget to watch the extra features. Little details like how you get a fireball to roll horizonally along a street when as everyone knows fire rises into the air make fascinating watching (and yes - they simply lift the street into the air and film it from above, but think how much just doing something like that costs in both time and money). It made me wonder what would be the result if a new Thunderbirds series were made now as a collaboration between Gerry Anderson and Trey Parker on the same budget as "Team America", with all the action of the former and just a hint of the bedroom scenes from the latter, with the parody element toned down sufficiently to deliver a format in which the kids can thrill at the action, and their parents can chuckle at the jokes. I think it would work.

OMG I love that movie.
Spent most of it in hysterics, as did my family. It's wonderful that you can take it as suprisingly intelligent satire, or just no brainer humor.
Oh and the songs are great.

I used to make models and things for my dollshouse, so took delight in all the sets and such. The cats/pathers was an inspired touch.

Noticed all the references to the Anderson shows. Would be hard to avoid those really. Especially the puppets' movement, glad they put that in because that makes for such a fun paraody.

Did checked out the bonus features, very interesting.

I have to say, I loved this film, as did my brother and mother.

It's just so hilarious, and the tunes are so very catchy. xD
