Did Capt. Brown really die in the Maximum Security Building

A careful study of the opening episode of CAptain Scarlet and the Mysterons raises the possibilty that - at the very last minute, the Mysterons replaced Captain Brown with a doppleganger.
Presumably he then changed his name to Major Reeves and worked undercover on their behalf?

I always thought there was something weird about that scene, but I could never see what it was until I got the DVDs. There were always noisebars in the way on video stopframe. Perhaps we should ask Alan Perry about it if he attends the next Fanderson con. He's usually happy to answer questions over a quiet drink in the bar.

Presumably that's the puppet that we actually see get blown to pieces when they watch the replay on Cloudbase.

Always thought he looked a bit like Keith Alexander, too.
