Do you think he'd still be keen to be reminded of his birthday when its the 100th....200th....or beyond?

I was re-reading 'Mort' by Terry Pratchett in which Death's adopted daughter (don't ask!) complains that she's been 16 years old for 35 years and as she says 'It was bad enough the first time!'. 31 might not be as bad as 16, but I guess it'd get a bit boring after a while.
In Skybase Girl's story 'What Remains', Scarlet says:
'...the three of you [Blue, Symphony & Rhapsody] were comfortable with each other; you were all familiar with the changes age brings; I wasn't part of it. Finally, I had to acknowledge the divisions that had built up between Dianne and me. We'd always vowed we would never let retrometabolism come between us, but in the end, it did. I loved her, she loved me, but it wasn’t enough. There were gulfs we couldn't bridge.”'

My suspicion was that at some point it was all going to turn to custard.

PS: I don't mind being reminded of my birthday - cards, presents, birthday cake - as long as no one actually mentions exactly how old I am.

Marion, I'm going to download your story and read it at leisure since that's something I haven't had in the last week. So I'll get back to you when I'm finished it....
