Old Black or New Black

Who do you think is the better Captain Black and why? The original or CGI?

I think the original Black; that voice always creeped me out!! And still does!

I havnt really seen the old Black, but the new Black is really good, really creepy! Makes you think what Destiny saw in him!!

I thought Original Black was really sinister when I was a kid. The voice was a bit over the top, but he certainly looked other-worldly, as if he was being remotely controlled. You never knew what he thought about anything, so that made him very unpredictable and added to the atmosphere of menace.

The down side was that you got no real flashes of personality whatsoever.

With NCS, Mysteronised Black looks and sounds normal, albeit it in a pantomime villain sort of way. He's the guy you love to hate and because he has a sense of humour ( somewhat warped ), and sometimes, the best lines in the script, he's much more interesting than the original, I think.

I definitely prefer the old Black.

Mind you, the ONLY thing I like about NCS is the new Black. :roll:

Sadly ‘flashes of personality’ were not a big thing for any of the characters in OCS.

We do get a few glimpses of the major characters, at least. Ochre and Grey get very little and the Magenta we see (especially in Attack on Cloudbase – which I admit is not to be relied upon) is rather over eager and somewhat accident prone.
Although Black doesn't get much screen time – and when he does he is usually up to no good - I think we do get a few insights into his original personality.
In the first episode we see the pre-Mysteronisation Black and he comes over as decisive - if a little hasty. The fact that he was in charge of the Mars mission also implies that he is considered a reliable and effective agent.
Once he has been Mysteronised (dead or alive) we still get what I like to think are glimpses of the original man.
He doesn't kill Symphony Angel at Culver, when he could have easily done so. If he had Mysteronised her they would have been able to infiltrate a Mysteron onto Cloudbase, because at that point the Mysteron detector had not been devised. Surely that was a major oversight of the Mysterons, unless Black, himself, prevented it from happening. (Of course, a nice plot bunny might be that they did Mysteronise her… down, rabbit, down! -O>

He doesn't kill the crew of Flight 104 either - and there was nothing (that we know of) to stop him doing so.
He is something of a snappy dresser – excluding the orange polo-neck sweater, which was presumably intended to highlight the red-rimmed eyes? – he has a nice line in leatherwear… and who knows, but that he might have a nice little love-nest with Helga the Model somewhere…

I agree with Elentari that NCS Black is the best thing in the show. He has a sharp wit, but he also exhibits a tendency to be a patronising git… especially when he is supposedly free from the Mysteron control in the trapped Rhino episode (title eludes me, I’m afraid) or maybe that’s just my faulty memory.

The episode is 'Best of Enemies'.

Even though OCS Black is favourite of the two, I admit I like NCS Black too. He is creepy in his own way and he is a well rounded and developed character- shame about his ex girlfriend though. :wink:

And some of his scenes do make you jump- like when he kills Gina Martinelli in 'Skin Deep'.

However there is something more zombie about OCS Black and I'm not a big zombie fan- that's why he creeps me out more.

Well i think the new CB is more scary, cause being CGI they are able too put more off an evil look on his face.

I had a dream about him last night! Have to admit, he's the last one I'd want to meet out of the two of them. I won't go into too much detail but judging from the NCS episode 'Skin Deep' if you kicked NCS Black in the wedding tackle, it'd hurt him a good detail. OS Black? Not too sure...

He does seem kind of unemotional, does he? Makes you wonder if he feels anything... or WOULD feel anything!

That would be great to see Intensity Angel!
I prefer the NCS black, he has more "evil" on his face, funnier and looks evil. And has more charm then the old one. Which suits his character down to the ground. :grin:
