Captain Scarlet Intro's 1967

We know that this was the introduction for the UK version:

The finger is on the Trigger, about to unleash a force with terrible powers beyond the comprehension of man. This force we shall know as the Mysterons. This man will be our hero, for fate will make him indestructible. His name, Captain Scarlet. This is the trigger: a Martian Exploration Vehicle, inside, three men from Earth…"


My question is this, since Scarlet was sydicated to America did they change the introductions at all?

No, although there were technically four intros - the one you describe is only used on the first episode, a 'silent' one (no dialogue but the atmospheric background music) used on about the first dozen, the one which describes the Mysterons (used for most others), and a fourth version - only heard on two episodes I think, from around the middle of the production order - which goes something like 'One man, a man who is different, whom fate has made indestructible - his name, Captain Scarlet'.

When the series was 'remastered in the 1990s, i think all bar the first (which retained its intro) had the 'Mysterons' version added.
