Inspiration and Observations

I have just seen the DVD of the film 'The Incredibles' - (Yes, I know its been about for ages...) and I was struck by a scene where Mr Incredible is fighting an 'intelligent' mechanical fighting machine. It has articulated arms and legs - although it is basically a sphere -and learns from its attacker's moves.
At one point it is about to push the hero into the gaping mouth of a lava filled volcano, but he craftily avoids it and the machine ends up in the molten rock instead.
Thinking his job's done he turns away, but the robot emerges from the fire-pit and comes after him....

I thought - that looks familiar.... 'Rat Trap' anyone?????

Not just the Incredibles - anyone seen “Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow”? Tell me if you don’t look at that (or should it be “those”?) flying aircraft-carrier and immediately go “Cloudbase”. *grins*And not just that, little submarines called "Mantas"? I'm thinking someone might have been a fan of Gerry Anderson in that studio, too...
