Now that the first season is done, what are everyone's thoughts on it? What did they get spot on? What did they miss? Are there things they did better than the original? What would you like to see next?

I like how they managed to give everyone their 15 minutes (or more) of fame, including grandma Tracy. I'm also glad that all episodes aren't about the Hood. Not much is known about him, he obviously has evil plans brewing, but no one seems to report him to the police, or try to find where he is. Of course, the boys are busy saving people, and that's more important, but I feel some background info is missing. Perhaps future episodes will fill that gap?

I'm not sure of what they were thinking with Sherbet. Was it to attract little girls to watch? He doesn't really serve a purpose in the story.

I thought is wasn't too bad in the beginning but now (not quite at the end of the first season in Oz) I'm finding it boring. I've taped the episodes to watch later but once I put one on, almost anything can distract me from it....and in one case I even dozed off. I can't stand Grandma or Lady Penelope either which probably doesn't help.

I also don't like them using the countdown from the original series as it has been overdone....and is serves more as a reminder of a better series....the original. I will watch the eps where Sylvia Anderson is featured (or in any rate I'll try to).

Is there anything in it better than the original? Not in my opinion.

I been a fan of thunderbirds from a young age and to see my friend's kids watch it. I thing to myself that was at that age. So I am so happy that Thunderbirds are back. Thunderbirds Are Go Again

It's different and made for a new generation. Crucially, it wasn't made by GA Productions - so comparisons are pointless in a way. But I feel that it's been done with respect and good intentions. Some things work, some don't so well. But it's proved very successful and anything that brings the Anderverse to a new audience has got to be good.

On a personal note, I feel there is a case for a 'Sherbet' fan club. I know there are those who question his/her existence in the whole shenanigans, but I feel Lady P would definitely have had such a pet. Maybe a puppet shiatsu or poodle would have been a problem, but you don't have that with CGI. Next season, I vote for more action sequences from Sherbet!

The dog wasn't the biggest problem. I could imagine the original Parker having problems with a dog for sure. Though I wouldn't mind a scene where he argues with Grandma in the Tracy Island kitchen like in the original with Kyrano. Mighty Atom I believe.

There are new DVD and Blu-ray of the new Thunderbirds are go volume 1 is out now. There are 13 episodes on it.

I'm probably way in advance, but do we know when the new episodes will air? We don't get much info about the series from this side of the Pond, I'm not sure they even showed the first episodes anywhere yet.

When they last aired, I think the announcer said they'd be back in October (here in the UK).

Having a look at the official Thunderbirds Are Go Facebook page, they say autumn in response to a question so I guess it'd be October at the latest (autumn here in the UK seems to be prolonged nowadays...)

Sorry, didn't twig that it wouldn't be available over there. I guess being ITV's official channel they'd restricted it. But it shouldn't be long now. ITV are repeating the series over weekends. No later than end October I'd imagine.

The first of the second half of this season wasn't too bad I think. I still wish the episodes were longer but I guess nowadays it's par for the course. Next episode sounds like the type to have Barry Gray music, that eerie sound of deep space ("Space Observatory 3" on the soundtrack release).

Personally, I'm more stoked for the Thunderbirds 1965 but we're here until Christmas.

The second episode was somewhat disappointing in my opinion. I was glad to see the Moon base, and how clearly it was inspired by Moon Base Alpha from Space 1999. Our friend the Chris Hadfield wannabe was back; I don't mind him.

After that, it went a little downhill.

- We get a little unrealistic chronology info here. If Jeff Tracy worked on a system on the Moon in the '20s, and TB is set in 2060... He either was a prodigy when he was quite young, or he's in his mid-sixties and had his children when he was older. And that makes Grandma in her, what, eighties? She doesn't look them, I guess... :wink:

- The way they move about on the Moon. Ugh. At least, in NCS, they made some effort to have Scarlet walk according to the different gravity.

- Squealing tyres on the Moon. :roll:

I know the show is aimed at a younger audience, but... really???

This week's episode was an improvement over last week's in my opinion. Less Alan and more Virgil is always a plus. :wink:

I'm a little surprised at the lack of obvious concern from the other Tracys as Virgil's rescue took longer and became riskier. Only John was trying to help, even if it was from afar.

Apparently, cakes from Paris look a lot like what I could manage with a two-dollar cake mix from the local grocery store, but considering Grandma Tracy didn't make it, it was an improvement in itself! (HBday)
