Never Mind the drabbles..

Cerise and I have been writing limericks - inspired by our heroes and the appearance of the drabbles on this forum. Here is a small sample:

Is terribly keen on one man
His name is Paul

With a potentially endless life-span.

For the charming Miss Karen Wainwright
It’s a bad case of love at first sight
When this feisty young madam
Meets a real hunk called Adam
And they party on all through the night.

He’s a bad tempered man – Captain Black
If he smiled, his face it would crack.
So he does as he’s told
By the Mysterons bold
Who are just out to get their own back.

There was a young man known as Blue
Whose mistakes were known to be few.
It was such a damn pain,
When he was right again,
But he always knew just what to do.

Nothing yet on Scarlet - cos the only rhyme I can think of is 'harlot'... .
Can anyone come up with some more - or a better rhyme?

Argh can't write poetry (not even haikus), and not for the want of trying either. So am terribly impressed by those who can.

He makes it his aim

There was a young captain called Grey
Whose passion was swimming - all day
But the pool has been drained
For maintenance it’s claimed
So it’s safer to stay out of his way.


The comms expert is Lieutenant Green
His computer is a wonder to be seen
The Colonel needs him - to keep in touch
With the Captains, Angels and such
And ’cause it’s a puzzle what those console buttons mean.


Dr Fawn’s medic centre has all the best gear
With enough big scary equipment to cause fear
He runs it all on Cloudbase
Scarlet’s his most interesting case
But there’s no Aussie Rules, kangaroos…or beer


*Just for info - Australian (Aussie) Rules is a popular football code which originated in Melbourne, Victoria but is gradually spreading to other states. PS Apologies for tinkering with the poetic meter somewhat.

They really are brilliant. Always one for trying new things, I think I'll have a go. Okay, so it's not a limeric but I never was any good at writing those... or anything else to be honest

Paul Metcalf is his name
But he’s not admired for his brain,
Rather for the fact he is very strong willed
And that he just can’t be killed.
He fell from the London Car-Vu
And then came out with just a bruise!
No matter how hard he tries,
Paul just never dies.
He works for Spectrum now, you see
Fighting the Mysteron enemy.
Paul will become Earth’s saviour
But he’s still a captain, not a major.

Finally managed a few more:

When Magenta is working on base,
It is hard to keep a straight face
When he's trying to spot,
What is there, and what's not,
He can sound like a right mental case.

The Australian doctor called Fawn
Makes Scarlet wish he had never been born.
So his extreme dedication
To avoid medication
Leaves the doctor alone and forlorn.

The young man who’s codename is Green,
Is the nimblest chap you’ve ever seen.
His seat moves ‘cross the ground
And can spin him right round -

From Marineville they poached Captain Grey
A top Aquanaut, he was , so they say.
And though Cloudbase may be
A long way from the sea
They’re hoping he’s going to stay.

Last, but not least:

Their commander is called Colonel White,
He is fearless and brave in a fight.
He tells Scarlet and Blue
Just what they can do,
In the vain hope that, one day, they might.

Well, it is the summer silly season... what more do you expect?

Watching the episode 'Inferno' gave me the idea for the first one. I call it: Ode to Najama

The Angels are glamorous and calm
In times of danger and alarm
They fly high and fast
As ‘Top Guns’ they’re a blast
But they can’t hit the broadside of a barn.

The SPV is the closest thing to a tank
Spectrum maintains for personnel of rank
But there is a certain colour officer
Whose driving record is a disaster
And he shouldn’t be allowed near one…to be frank.

The World President is no slob
He’s popular with the government mob
But even he could see
That a Mysteron target he’d be
It’s in the duty statement - part of the job.

The Spectrum Saloon Car is like no other
Made of Fleetonium alloy, glass and rubber
Fully armed to the teeth
It seats five or six
But it only comes in one colour.

The Mysteron base is something to be seen
When restored by a powerful white beam
The Mysterons are all terror and might
In a dazzling complex bathed in light
As viewed through glass coated in Vaseline.
