Looking forideas for Topaz Tale -Dark Child

I' m in need of some ideas for a story I've started and would like to finish. In what I've written so far, I've managed to sneak a rather articulate 4-year-old onto Cloudbase (how, I hadn't figured out) and hint at Spectrum's destruction at the hands of some unknown villains. Here's the last piece of the story so far to give you a hint.

Topaz placed the phone on the table and looked at the black haired child on the bed. Diana stopped bouncing for a second and turned to meet Topaz's stare.
"That was Uncle Scarlet you were talking to, wasn't it, Megan?"
"Uncle Scarlet?" the adult queried.
"You know, he worked here before the mix-up Mom an' Dad called the Rainbow In Person."
Topaz frowned and asked, "Do you mean a rainbow inversion perhaps? Though how that could happen or affect anything…"
"That could be what Mom called it. Aunt Julie said that was when the most of good guys in Spectrum got killed, and Mom and Dad became good to survive. However, Mom was hit as well, and her old bosses found her near-death and copied her before she recovered and realized what was going on. She and the copy rescued Dad and Aunt Julie from the bad guys, then met up with another group who also fought the people mom and dad once worked for. The group found Uncle Scarlet and his kid later, buried under a pile of rubble and realized that they'd been attacked like Mom had. Oddly enough, both Uncle Scarlet and Aunt Julie hinted at in their stories was that Mom was once someone else."
Topaz took a calming breath, and was about to ask something else when a burst of static issue from the intercom followed by Lt. Green's voice.
"Lt. Topaz, Captain Blue wants to know what's holding you up?"
"Tell him to take-off without me, Lt. Green," she replied. "I have … an unexpected guest that Colonel White should know about as soon as possible."
"S.I.G. I'll tell the Colonel to expect you two in … say, fifteen minutes?"
"S.I.G Lieutenant."

who is Topaz?
Who is Diana?
Who are Aunt Julie/Mum and Dad and 'Uncle Scarlet' and the rest?
What is the 'Rainbow invasion'?

It might make sense to you, but I'm afraid it doesn't mean a lot to me... I feel like I opened a page at random and have no idea what the book's about
I think you should work the story out and then ask someone to beta-read it for you.
If you re-read what you have written and think through your plot, I'm sure you'll find a solution to your problem.
