Is anyone interested in MiSTing the New Captain Scarlet?
Moderator: Spectrum Strike Force
There used to be a show called Mystery Science Theatre 3000, in which a man and two robots were forced to watch bad films. To make it tolerable, they spent the time riffing the film (making smart comments). The term MiSTing has been coined by fans of this show, to refer to fanfic which follows the same pattern of making fun with (not always of) someone else's work. Targets have included spam, advertisements, fanfics and -- of course -- TV shows.
The point I'm trying to reach is, is anyone interested in MiSTing the New Captain Scarlet using the characters of the original series? And would there be any complaints if I did?

Is this similar to the 'Couch Potato' section of the SFX of old?

Nicely put. And very tactful. In view of the fact that there are some members of this forum who actually worked on the show - and that most of the members who had seen it actually liked it in general, this shouldn't be a flame throwing war.
Also - this should be a fanfic, and not a forum. For those who are interested in a forum fanfic, you can open a thread on the Forum Archives.
And remember: have fun, be respectful - and play nice!

Inform us when you'll put this all online, shaqui! I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants to see the follow-up now!

Chris, is Spectrum Headquarters interested in hosting it? It's a four pager.
The artwork was originally done back in the late 1980s, after the repeats back then, but it was in the process of being coloured up a few years back, for another website which probably won't host be able to host it now.

Sorry, Captain Indigo. I've no idea.
Chris -- please agree to host 'Captain Scarless' for shaqui! I think it looks really good.

MST3K - I always think of wittisms added to the script, not a critique or review, but a general irreverant poking of fun, or humourous slant to the subject. Some deserve it, others don't, and the rest... ? Well I love 'This Island Earth' but I'll never watch it again without thinking of riffs like 'Ooh, Brac has visible pantyline', 'You're holding a mutant turd!' and 'I'm not an alien!'...

It'll be my pleasure. Contact me by e-mail when it'll be ready, and we'll settle the details.
