A bit of a problem
Moderator: Spectrum Strike Force
I've been writing fan fiction for the past several months during my spare time but I'm really worried about it.
I've created a whole new set of characters and a new base too where these characters are based. I've worked on some of them (nameingly the five Angels) for ages BUT would it be counted as Captain Scarlet fan fiction?
The first story I've created using them is my addition on to the New Captain Scarlet (And will remain this way) and I've used the new base to explain why captain Indigo doesn't appear much, in my own belief, as he moved to this new base. Is the story classed as Captain Scarlet fan fiction even through I've invented a whole new base and team of Angels.
In the story I've nearly finished I mention that the one angel doesn't get on with Destiny Angel and their hatred of each other is well accepted by the inhabitants of Crocodile Base (the place I've created, yes a nod to Koala Base of the orginal series) also that the peron in charge and Colonel White have crossed paths before.
Please can someone point me in the correct dirction. I'm afraid I'm awfully new to fan fiction and have a lot to learn.
Thank You

Most of us create new characters in our stories ( after all, the Spectrum people have to have friends and families !) but generally speaking, the original characters, either in the old or the new series, should take precedence.
If you write for NCS, you have more scope for originality, because the original bios for the characters were so sketchy. Well, that's what I tell myself when I'm off on a flight of fantasy that bears no relation to anything in the episodes !

While it seems common sense that Spectrum would be a huge organisation and Cloudbase/Skybase would have a lot more personnel than is ever shown on screen, I'm not sure how valid an entire fan-fic spin-off would be for this particular site. It's not like there was an actual series spin-off, like the various Star Trek series. I hope this makes sense, and doesn't put you off in any way. It sounds as if the Inspiration Fairies have taken up residence in your head !
