The Mysterons can teleport Black (and the car and companion he's travelling with) out of danger when necessary. We see this on the show (OCS) several times. We don't know where they transport him to - that's not shown - but I would have thought it unlikely that it was back to Mars.
When Black was taken over (dead or alive) by the Mysterons they sent his body back to Earth in the spaceship he arrived in, which suggests to me they can't just transport him over that great a distance.
It's been postulated that the Mysterons use Black as a conduit for deploying their powers on Earth and that, should he be eliminated by Spectrum, they might be stymied in their war efforts. Of course, they probably have the other two MEV crewmen and Helga the model handy as spares...
I could be wrong, of course: as we all know 'the Mysterons have powers we cannot hope to understand' - but we can take a guess at them, now and again

And they've still got the agent at the garage they could use if Black became irreparably damaged.

I find it interesting that in Manhunt Scarlet shoots the garage attendant, yet we find out later on in Operation Time that mysterons can only b killed by high voltage current
