DEATH AND TAXES, by Hazel Köhler.
Even in these days of electronic communications, it’s nice to get a proper letter. Of course, some letters are nicer than others... ff 574

For those of us who are in the know, THIS story has been a long time coming... We've waited for so long, that when it finally was finished and was submitted for posting, I just knew - and I'm sure I wasn't alone, that it definitely was worth waiting (Yes, I know I'm repeating myself from the Updates thread... Sue me! :wink:

)

Hazel, this is one wonderful short story. Very witty and amusing! I really felt for Scarlet, caught in an administrative spiral of disaster that seemed to have no end! All my congratulations 8M-M)

and many, many, MANY thanks for allowing to finally get to read it, from first line to last!

Great to read another warm, witty and unusual little tale written in her inimitable clever, quirky style. Scarlet's seething rage at his helplessness in the face of unyielding bureaucracy was hilarious.

Keep it up, Hazel, we're awaiting SIQ2 with bated breath!

Oh Hazel, it's been so long - WELCOME BACK!!! And what a delightfully witty tale you bring us, I fell off my chair laughing at some of your hilarious turns of original phrase. Mizzes Dunning and her secretary are fully realised with a few master strokes of your skilful pen.

Regardless of the country, or time period, bureaucracy will always be a formidable opponent. I guess the war of nerves isn't just coming from Mars. :wink:

This is an excellent story, funny and witty, I enjoyed reading it a lot.

I keep being amazed by the creativity of the authors on this website. Not to mention the high quality of the stories! :-;)
