Seriously, Skybase Girl, that's a fantastic piece of work. Kudos.

Seriously, thanks so much for the kind comments, Lezli. I had already posted a comment on "Torment in Tibet", but I didn't do it in this thread.
I know the trend has been to use the website updates for follow-up comments recently, because it feels natural to respond in that way, but perhaps we've lost sight of some of the threads on the Fanfic part of the forum.
While I was reading Captain Canary's comments on fanfics in the "Fanfic review" thread , I thought maybe that thread had got a bit lost. Maybe we should pull back and use it again for this purpose. So that's what I've done.

As stated previously, I really did enjoy this piece. My dislike of Destiny is well known, but she comes across well in this without ever seeming out of character. Your characterisations are all spot on, and your OC has enough background to make her a part of it without overshadowing anyone.
I also absolutely love the term 'D-Day'. It's very Destiny.

Skybase Girl has the knack of writing characters that draws you into it and involves you in their dilemas. I think her canon characters are very true to the impressions I got of the original NCS versions and the OC are well-drawn and believable.
I will surprise no one by saying that I do not enjoy NCS much, but I definitely want to see the sequel to this story.

I wasn't sure that writing this from Destiny's point of view would work, but once I got going, it came reasonably easily. That was something of a relief because it's the first thing I've been able to finish since last January and I was beginning to despair of writing anything sensible ever again. ( Not that CoD may be exactly sensible, but you know what I mean!)
I also wasn't sure that anyone would want to read it, given the levels of hatred Destiny seems to engender

As I said in my notes at the end, this was supposed to be the third part of the tale that began with A Twisted Trinity, but the second part hasn't yet been completed, so I was a bit worried that posting this first might not make sense. Hopefully, it stands on its own.
I don't know about a sequel....... I have something partly written which is set sixteen years into the future, where Scarlet and Destiny's marriage is again under threat, but nothing more than that. I'm not sure if that will ever see the light of day, but maybe the prequel should be done before the sequel anyway.
I didn't intend to finish CoD in the way I did, but Baby Caitlin wanted to go her own way and as a result, has raised more questions than I currently have answers for!

I'm first an foremost a OCS fan, as you well know, but when you write as beautifully and truthfully as this, I'm more than happy to spend my time reading NCS.
Definitely a three hanky job...
Well done...

I think that truth and beauty in writing are what most people aim for, but can be hard to achieve, no matter how experienced a writer you may be. The fact that you think I've done it in this case is a massive compliment (as well as an ego boost!
