She's done it again ! As usual, Marion's latest offering is a wonderful beginning to the challenge.

Mystical, sad, funny in places, a bit scary and effortlessly atmospheric - check it out, but have a large box of hankies at the ready, because you might need them !

Oh yes, I started reading it earlier. Excellent stuff so far.

Well. you were right Skybase Girl, I did have to use that box of tissues after all. :cry:

Marion, you create living breathing characters at the mere stroke of a pen, I will always be jealous of such skill...and it's always a pleasure to immerse myself in one of your 'sagas'.
I have to say you do Scarlet to a 't'..or should that be an 'S'? :wink:

His sense of humour remains firmly 'black'... :grin:

despite all the things life..or death throws at him.

I concur, wonderfully evocative landscapes, and a deep meloncholy pervading the piece.. :boohoo(

Thank you very much for the kind comments everyone. I'm glad that - even if it wasn't particularly scary, ithe story managed to evoke suitably gloomy Halloween-esque sensations.
Now I've got my contribution over and done with, I'm looking forward to the rest of the challenge stories :grin:

Yes Elentari, I was pondering the pyjamas image, wondering just what type Marion had put him in. Not baggy striped winceyette, I hope, but there again, he is in his seventies at the time this story takes place !

LOL oh of course.
But then with the captains you generally get the whole package anyway.

And yes Scarlet does look rather fetching in his jammies.
